Actually he doesn't 'drink' blood. It says no where in the LABBMC that he drinks blood.
It says he has a fetish for strawberry jam. Nothing about blood.
Just like how Mello has a fetish for chocolate, L with his sweets, Matt with video games, Near with toys....
And there's proof that L has no emotions, while BB does.
The entire reason BB went insane and started killing people is because he couldn't handle all of the stress that L was putting him under while training A and BB to be his successors. L knew what the stress could do to such young children, but he did it none the less.
BB and A were best friends. A was the only one to keep BB calm. After A committed suicide (Again, he couldn't handle the stress L was putting him under) BB lost it. He vowed to surpass L and make him regret what he did to the kids.
L plainly didn't care. He let BB leave (knowing he was insane, and would probably kill).
L even goes to such extremes to take on the persona of 'L' saying he is merely a detective, not a human. He tries to drop human acts such as sleeping or being social. He also goes by L instead of having an actual name.
He doesn't consider himself human.
He is emotionless. Nothing but a shell.
L isn't sexy though. He's emotionless. He's an empty shell. All knowledge. He's like a computer.
BB has a back story~
He's bloody crazy, but at least he feels...

I used to love L, but then got absorbed into Fanfictions and all of that jazz... Now BB holds a special place~ <3
