Dresses and Necklaces

“Welcome, welcome! What can I do for you today?” Perky attitude and everything else mixed together. Disgusting. Plus, it wasn't helping with how I was feeling, so it made it even more awkward to talk or whatever else I was feeling.

I got a little nervous. I didn't really like going to Ball's for one, and two, I hated dress shopping. The people who help you out are just too perky and try to put something pink on some goth girl, which I had a sure feeling that this woman, with her attitude, would try something like that onto me. Knowing this, I knew I had to regain my composer so that I wouldn't look so... pathetic or something like that. The woman sounded like a starly anyways.

“I'm looking for a dress,” I told the woman so that I wouldn't get under so much pressure again.

“And I'm looking for a tuxedo.” That word rolled on Mear's tongue, like it was weird to say it. I wouldn't blame him. It's a weird word, even for girls.

The woman's face lit up and she ran up to us, extremely happy. She clasped my hands. This woman will get hurt if she does something else that involves touching me...

“Well we can certainly do something, can't we?” She grabbed my arm and pulled me off towards the dress section. Okay, by the end of this day, somebody would be hurt.

She pulled me to where the dresses were at least a size 6 or 8. There were a few 7s and 9s but, I knew for a fact that I was a 7 in dress size.

“Now, now, let's see what's fits you, yes?” I nodded and stayed where I was so that I wouldn't do something I didn't need to do.

“Do you like pink, my dear?” There the question was.

“I hate it, but I love black,” I called to her and she huffed, but then sighed.

“Well, black does seem to fit your style, so stay there, and I'll choose a few black, yes? And you are a 7, I presume?” she called back as I heard her hangers being thrown through the racks.

“Yes,” I called back to her as I found a seat and sat down in it. I heard Mear in the distance talking to the male dresser about a tuxedo, but I decided to pay no attention to it.
Things were awkward with Mear and I now, especially since Eva had said something about Mear and I going together to the dance. It was awkward and nerve wreaking to be around him. Every single time I was with him now, I couldn't look at his eyes, or I blushed. It was just different now being with him...

“My dear, just what are you thinking about? You seem very distracted. Is it about that boy you are with?” That woman just popped out of nowhere with a few dresses in hand, some being purple and black, blue and black, black and red, or just black.

“No... Maybe... I don't know,” I muttered as I got up from the chair and took off my coat and put my parasol on the seat, following her to some fitting rooms.

“You seem to like him very much.” I blushed bright red. What did this woman know about Gijinkas and everything else?

“I don't know what you're talking about,” I told her strongly as she handed me the first dress, which was blue and black. I went inside a fitting room, and started to try it on as she continued to talk to me.

“I saw how you looked at him when you first visited the store. Ah, young love. How I've forgotten it.” With how this woman looked, I never expected her to be the type to always have dates, but she continued to ramble as I got the dress on and looked at myself in the mirror. “My husband and I are very much still in love, for he is the one helping that boy you know with a tuxedo.” I was barely paying attention to her as I looked at the dress.

The dress was the blue and black one. It wrapped tightly around my chest and went down to my knees. It was almost like a corset dress really, but I didn't really like it because of all the bows on it. Actually, it was disgusting, so I took off the dress and handed it back to her, and in response, she handed me the red and black one.

“Are you close to evolving, my dear?” Okay, what did this woman know?

“What do you know about us?” I meant us by Gijinkas.

“Oh, my dear, I know a lot about Gijinkas. I have seen so many enter this store before that it is not hard to distinguish them anymore. You are a Shuppet Gijinka, I think?”

“Yes,” I replied coldly, but this time I continued. “How do you know I might be close to evolving?” I looked at myself in the mirror for the red and black dress, also noticing that some gray was sticking on my skin. Splotches really, all over my arms. I had to have something with sleeves.

The red dress was basically more of a black corset dress, but it had a big red bow in the back and it went down to my ankles. The big red bow really threw it off for me, so I took it off and handed her it back to her and this time, she gave me purple and black one. I liked this one more then the last two, but let's see how it looks...

The woman replied, “It will be a Banette, correct? From those gray splotches on your skin, it seems that you are slowly changing and getting close to evolving.” I kind of knew what she was talking about, but I didn't want to evolve just yet. More bounty hunters would be after me if I was Banette Gijinka.

The purple and black dress fit better and looked better on me. It didn't have that big of a purple bow in the back, and it looked exactly like a corset would, but better, if you know what I mean. It had ruffles at the end of the dress, and this one had a little bit of sleeve on it that ended at the elbows, which was where the splotches ended, thank God, but what I loved about the dress was that it was slanted at the end. The dress slanted from my right thigh, not very high at least, and it slanted down to my left ankle. It some parts, it looked like it was ripped on purpose, which it probably was supposed to be that way. The sleeves were see through and had little ruffles at the end of the sleeves itself and were barely just a little sparkly. It fit perfectly around my chest, and I knew I would have to have little necklace with this. Probably a black bat or something.

“This one is good,” I told her as I exited from the fitting room and showed her. She looked me over and nodded strongly, like it was a perfect fit and she had done a good job picking out a dress.

“Come, let us show you to your friend, shall we?” Now things had turned awkward again. She wanted to do what?!

“Uh, no thanks...” I tried but she started to drag me along along the carpet, I knowing that we were going to come back for my stuff.

“That will not do! We will show you to your friend, and it will be perfect!”

“More like awkward,” I murmured as we got to where Mear was. Guys always took faster with fitting, so Mear was already done and had already paid for his tuxedo. It made me wonder how much this dress was all of a sudden.

“Well it took some prodding and things, but what do you think?” I blushed bright red as the woman moved and revealed myself to Mear. It was awkward, extremely by the limit, as he looked me over and I nervously scratched my hair. A bad habit I had gotten myself into when I was doing something like this.

“What do you think?” I asked him, and he stuttered at first, probably unsure on what to say.

“It um.... i-it l-looks g-good on y-you.” It probably took him a while to think of what to say, which made me blush a little.

“Good, good! Now, let us go back and get this all off of you and have you purchase this dress!” The woman exclaimed with more than enough perkiness and dragged me back to the woman's section for dresses.

Once I got back to the fitting room, I got redressed into my original clothes and the woman took the dress from me as I finished up getting back into what I was originally in and exited the fitting room. I grabbed my stuff and I followed the woman to the front once more, I finding Mear talking little conversation with the male dresser.

The man moved out of the way for his wife as she rung up the dress, and it was cheaper than I thought it would be, so I grabbed up the money that I had saved up from the past years and paid her in full amount, her then handing me the package that contained the dress and smiled. It turned out that I did have actually some money left that could probably buy me a necklace or something.

“Thank you for coming and have a nice day!” Yeah, I think this day wasn't going to get any worse.

Mear and I exited the store, with me putting up my parasol, and I finding a jewelry store that was right beside the dress and tuxedo store. I hoped that the person who ran this store wouldn't be so perky.

“Um... I'll be right back, okay?” I told Mear as I walked over to the jewelry store with him following.

Mear just nodded and sat down on a bench that was right outside the jewelry store. I entered the place, and noticed the person who was behind the counter was chewing gum and had heavy metal blasting out from her headphones, with one out of her ear while reading and sucking on a red lollipop.

“Welcome, dearie. What can I get you?” she asked as she looked up from her book and smacked a bubble in front of my face. I didn't mind. I was used to these type of people.

“Black bat necklace or something like that,” I told her straightly as she rummaged through the contents of jewelry stacks behind her, and found a few things and laid them on the counter. I looked at them and found a black chain necklace with a black bat holding a cracked, red heart in it's feet.

“That one,” I told her, pointing at it, which made her smile mischievously look eerie, and she wrapped up the necklace and put it in a small box and I paid her the full amount, which only left me a few coins left. I could save these for later.

I put the coins in my pocket and she put the box inside a little bag and handed it to me.

“Good luck with that guy of yours,” she smirked as I opened up the door and nodded to her.

Once I closed the door, I looked over at Mear, who was sketching out something.

I asked, “Ready to go, or do you want to explore some more?”
