The Bridge-Builder by Afterglow

The Bridge-Builder
(by Afterglow)

A deep canyon is carved
between two sides of the heart
and I, the bridge-builder stand
with a rope in one hand
and wood planks in the other.
I come to connect the land.

One side of the heart
flowers with love and great joy.
The other side appears the same.
But the passage between
swarms with acid which burns
the heart in half without shame.

My tools are worn-out,
my wood is not steady,
my rope already staring to fray.
Before the bridge could even be built
between to hearts of a whole,
the connection is banished away.

But I, the bridge-builder,
am still standing strong
with my tools and other supplies.
I will keep work on this bridge
and bring a heart torn apart
back together infront of their eyes.

I will make them all see
real love in its form.
I will unite both hearts to be one.
If only we could join
my two hearts as one,
then my work on the bridge would be done.
