I find that this event kind of coincides with the fact that starting at 12:00 midnight on Oct.31st is the beginning of the November National Writers Month. You attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. I find it's deffinetly something worth while if ur willing to give up some free time to place ur hands on the keyboard and type like hell for a few hours each night. lol XD And I'm proud to say I'm participating in it as my school. :3

Believe me, so far I wouldn't say that anyone has gotten any advantages or disadvantages thus far by choosing to write either personal fiction or fanfiction.

Maybe you guys should have like, a fanfic Halloween category and a regular halloween category? Just for fairness' sake? Or would that screw up things too much? So that people that write say, a Resident Evil Halloween story don't have an unfair advantage over people that write a scary story about a Pizza Hut?

This seems like an interesting challenge. Hm... I'll do it, then. I hope my story will be scare enough for you all. (hehehehehehe)

You can still describe a few pieces of meat if it'll help your imagery, though. Y'know, use your judgement.

PG-13 or lower, yes. That's a rule that covers everything on this site. As for length, it doesn't need to be any length. 5000 words is probably about as long as you'd ever want to go, though, being that you only have two weeks left to write it.

Being that I and the other three judges need to read all of these, I figure we'll probably appreciate stories that are perhaps not especially long, though. Y'know, stuff like that.

It doesn't have to be horror, no. But if not, then yes, it should pertain to Halloween quite closely. Otherwise, there'd be no point to it being a themed event.

If the story reads completely the same and leaves a reader feeling exactly the same if you switched every mention of "Halloween" with "Thursday", then it's not enough. Again, it's a themed event for a reason.

If it's really, really over the top, I find that sometimes takes the edge off of the gore... and really, how can we rob an audience of a really, really gruesome end for someone, eh?

I'm pretty chill about graphic images and such, so probably whatever you have in mind I'll be okay with it. But that aside, y'know, use your own judgement: if you think you're writing something that will likely upset someone, then you probably are.
