Hello, everyone!

You have reached the rambling, the fangirling, and the general chill-pad of theOtaku's NightBeck, a.k.a Becky, a.k.a Crimson Lotus the Irish Ninja.

... okay, maybe not the last one. But people will be calling me that one day.

This is your place to chill, talk about life and fandom, and be generally crazy. So go on. Play nice, be good to each other, don't make me hurt you.

My favorite series: Princess Tutu, Ookiku Furikabutte, Mushishi, xxxHOLiC, Monster, Black Lagoon, Ergo Proxy, Escaflowne, and Baccano!

My writing: Cafe Cliche

Still ridiculously busy...

... but here are some scattered thoughts on other new releases!

Kyou Kara Maou, Season Three: I'm very proud of the show! Instead of the weird fillers that made up the OVA, no time was wasted diving right back into the political intrigue, and I'm dying to know what's going on. I'm a little reminded of the betrayal story arc from season, with the certain kind of misdirection being used. You go, KKM.

Amatsuki: I've been following this manga for a long time, so I'm thrilled to see it become an anime. I was satisfied with the first episode, but I think the only reason I'm holding out on the incoherent screaming is to make sure my favorite parts are depicted well. Not any specific things, but it's important, for instance, that the dynamics of the Toki-Kon-Kuchiha relationship play out right. They set it up really well, though! And a few of my favorites haven't shown up yet, too. However, everything I saw was awesome, nonetheless! Good graphics, and I was really happy with the voices. Fukuyama Jun, Yusa Kouji, and Paku Romi did wonderfully with Toki, Kon, and Kuchiha.

Only weird thing was the opening. They tried to do a weird interpretive summary thing of the show, and it came off as quite strange.

But I digress. Watch it! I definitely will be.

Nabari no Ou: Oh wait, here's the incoherent screaming.

AJFJFIDKSHFIFOGON!!!!

Another manga I've been following for a while, and that first episode was flawless. I had no idea Nabari was popular enough to get a budget like that, but God, that animation! The backgrounds looked like they were hand-painted or something! And the character designs are so gorgeous - everyone looks great. And the voices were also awesome here. I don't know the people playing Kumohira and Koichi, but they were great, anyway. And Kugimiya Rie! Playing a male... not really tsundere, but... CLOSE ENOUGH. Miharu in general was wonderful. OH GOD HIS SPARKLE MODE. And Kumohira's expressions when he realized he was being played like a fiddle, SO MUCH YES. Also, though he was only in one shot in the first episode, YOITE IS SAIGA MITSUKI OH THANK YOU ANIME GODS.

Also, the music is gorgeous. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS SHOW. SOMEWHERE. WHERE IS IT.

Again. WATCH IT!

On my 'to watch' list: Allison to Lillia, Kure-nai, Soul Eater, Toshokan Sensou, Crystal Blaze, and Junjou Romantica.
