"Adriana!" her mother called out. She stood in the doorway scanning around for her daughter. "Where could she be?" she wondered. Just then she caught Hughe in her view and decided to ask him if he'd seen her anywhere.
"Hughe!" she indicated. He looked at her and strode over to her. "Can I help you, Madam?" he asked respectfully.
"Yes, have you seen my daughter lately?" she asked.
"No, sorry ma'am, I haven't seen her since this morning." he replied.
She was afraid of that. "Ok, well do you think, since you're fast and agile going throughout the forest, you can search for her?" "And maybe bring somebody with you, just in case, if you want." she said.
"Yes ma'am, leave it to me." he said determined.
Hughe looked for his friend Alan. Alan was older than Hughe by three years, and he didn't wield a sword, but blunt weapons, such as a mace or morning star. He was very good at what he carried, though that meant he didn't carry a bow like Hughe did.
Hughe didn't see him anywhere and the only place left was his house, so he decided to go there. When he walked up the steps, Alan's grandma was rocking in her chair, smiling at him. He nodded and smiled back. He knocked on the door. A few seconds later Alan opened the door to a familiar face.
"Hughe, what are you doing here?" he said cheerfully.
"Well, not to make a big deal(even though it was kind of a big deal..the Princess was missing), but the Princess is missing and we don't want to worry everybody, so keep low." "Oh and do you want to come help me find her?"
Alan looked at him stunned, then composed and whispered, "when did she dissapear?"
Hughe did not ask, "I don't know, she never said, and I never asked."
Alan slumped a little, "Ok I'll join you, but it would've helped to know when, oh well" He went back inside. "You can come in if you want to," he gestured.
He did so and asked, "You here by yourself?"
"Well not by myself, I have my grandmother outside." he answered.
"Ok, so where are your parents then?" he asked.
Alan sighed, "I don't know, they went somewhere and they couldn't tell me, so they told me to take care of Grandma Jewel." Alan then wondered, "How long do you think this will take, Hughe?"
"It depends on where she is and how far." he replied.
"Hmm, so that means I'll have to find someone to take care of her then." he said to him.
It was around dinner time, so they found someone to take care of Alan's grandma, and they ate dinner and thereafter took off. They said farewell to their friends and family. "Take care and be safe Alan and Hughe," the Queen had said to them.
"Of course," Alan said.

Blackness was all Adriana could see, she was groggy and felt like she could sleep for days, but she knew she couldn't. Something was there though, watching, full in shadow. She felt around and could feel from her knowledge, what was to be wetness and a rocky stucture. She tried to keep her breathing calm, but got scared from not being able to see anything. All of a sudden she saw a movement, she stopped. Focusing her sight, she saw glimmers off the rock wall and realized she was in a cave. Then she felt a sudden shock. Her strength came back for some reason, and her eyes widened with the sudden shock.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you, but you have to promise not to scream or run away," an unkown voice came from behind had said.
Frantically Adriana stood up and backed away from the voice, but she could see nothing.
"Wh-who are you?" Adriana stammered.
"My name I cannot say, but I can tell you why you can't see me, because I see that you cannot portray me from your unability to see me in the darkness of the cave," the voice replied. "I am a shadow, that came from a distant realm, The Shadow Realm, though I am not the only one who has dwelled there, also demons and Elves with unamaginable powers," the Shadow said.
From Adriana's standards, this "Shadow" figure, was female and was from The Shadow Realm. Even though she shouldn't of worried, she still felt evil and despair coming from the Shadow. "S-so are you the one who brought me here?" Adriana asked shakily.
"How else would you have gotten here?" the Shadow asked sarcastically.
Adriana stared into darkness with disbelief. "Why did you bring me here, then?" she asked. She listened, but there was just silence. "Hello, are you there?" she froze and listened again. Nothing. She sat down in discouragement. Her dress felt damp and dirty.
After about an hour, she had an urge to get up and look for an exit. "I wouldn't do that," a voice said in her head. Even though it was from her head, she still looked around in confusement. "First off, there is a twist in your mind, look and you will find me," the voice came again. Now she was really confused. "Though do not go outside, you muct look for me in the Cave of Shadows," the voice from her mind compiled. "Ok, so where do I look first?" she asked her mind. "Go deeper in the Cave of Shadows, there you shall find me." it replied. Reluctantly Adriana got up and breathed a fulfilling sigh and set off.

Though Hughe and Alan set off late after their meal, they still went after Adriana in the night. The moon was half-full, so it gave them enough light to see. They'd only spoken to each other a few times with their set-off. Even though they were good friends, they didn't talk a lot, if they did, it'd be when they were at the Inn, drinking alcohol. From the looks of things though, they started to feel tired and they needed rest to catch up their strength.
"So where shall we sleep?" Alan asked him.
Hughe looked around for a good, flat camping spot. There were trees everywhere, barely any room, so they kept walking, without an answer from Hughe.
"Are you alright Hughe?" asked Alan.
"Of course," Hughe replied. "I'm just looking for a stopping point without all these trees being in the way," he said with searching eyes.
"Oh, ok," alan said. "I hope we find it soon. My feet are killing me," he complained.
"All in due time, Alan," Hughe said with a yawn.
Finally they found a stopping point and set a small camp, with a fire, and their belongings, which contained their sleeping material, extra clothes, and food. With little things to help along the way.
"It looks like we've got a few hours before the sun rises," Hughe had said before falling asleep with the night sounds of owls and tiny night bugs. Alan looked at the night sky, on his left, clear with stars twinkling, and on his right, a few clouds covered the stars. His eyelids slid down and blackness seduced him and he fell asleep. The fire throughout the night died, and it felt like everything else did with it from the dark of the night.
The sun peaked from the mountain, and birds chirped, waking Hughe. Sniffling fromt eh night chill, he pushed himself up with his arms and hands. His legs stayed the postion from when he slept. For the first time out on a quest, he felt groggy and had a slight headache. He turned his head to look at Alan.Alan was sound asleep, but soon, Hughe would wake him up to eat breakfast and thereafter set off to look for Princess Adriana. He sat up ina criss-cross position, and twisted his back to hear a few faint pops from his spine popping. He sighed.
"Alright, time to wake sleeping beauty," he said to himself. Though he wanted to be sneaky about it and play a prank on him, so he searched for a bird feather. Big or small, it didn't matter, it would be funny. He spotted one not far from him, but he still had to stretch to get it. He snatched it, and crawled over to Alan. Using it to tickle his nose, it'd make Alan scratch his nose. Just then Alan said something in his sleep, "Don't go in the cave...mmnm." Hughe raised an eyebrow and dropped the feather.
"Alan, wake up," Hughe shook Alan a little.
"Mnnn, I'm up," Alan shot up and looked around to see Hughe in his sights.
"What were you dreaming about, Alan?" Hughe asked him right away.
Alan looked at him dazed, "Umm I'm not sure...I think I dreamed of fluffy kittens and cotton candy, it was like I was in heaven with fluffiness," Alan said happily with a smile.
"Huh?" Hughe wondered apathetically. "Right."
"Why?" Alan asked him.
"Because you said and I quote, "Don't go in the cave." he quoted.
"Oh." Alan confusedly stated.
"Nevermind," Hughe said getting up. " Let's just eat and get going," he advisibly said to Alan.
Eating their meal, they soon kept going on their quest to find Adriana. Still, Hughe was wondering why he had said what he said, and what was his dream? Does it have to do with Adriana?
