    @Shinmaru:

    I'm with you on Eckhart. The snippet of the movie I've seen so far was the bit halfway through the Dent/Joker hospital scene through the part where Dent kills some guy's driver and flips the car, and I absolutely loved what he did with the character.

    I actually didn't know about Eckhart being Dent until about four days before the release of the movie, and I remember being stunned that they had cast him alongside Ledger for the other villain role. And then I skipped for a while.

    I WANNA SEE THIS MOVIE, DADBURN IT

    When I see movies these days, I make sure to go in with expectations tempered, no matter how much I am looking forward to seeing it. Doesn't always work, mind, but it works most of the time. I managed it with The Dark Knight, and I enjoyed the hell out of it, despite some nitpicky problems I have with it.

    What is kind of sad, though, is that Aaron Eckhart probably won't get any second looks for his acting -- for me, he is just as good as Heath Ledger in that movie. He is the embodiment of the confidence and strength that defines Harvey Dent.

    Yeah, it is hard to imagine another film following up on TDK. It's one of my favorite movies ever, and I'm kind of prejudiced against superheros! D: As much of a downer as it turned out to be, I was impressed that they had the gumption to go those places. It left me walking out of the theater thrilled, despite its tragic qualities, because it felt both human in terms of emotion and so much larger than life in terms of its exploration of the meaning of heroism.

    I was also so glad that Heath lived up to the buzz... The Dark Knight was definitely something beyond your typical superhero movie, and his totally immersed performance helped that. It made me so sad when I walked out of the theatre and remembered that I'd never see him do anything new again.

    It was totally depressing, though. That's why I'd say it has less rewatch value for me than, say, Iron Man - because I'd have to mentally prepare myself before watching it again.

    Have fun with Wall-E! You'll love it~

    The Dark Knight was a mind trip in the best way. Not only was Heath Ledger absolutely incredible (if he doesn't get any nominations at the Academy Awards, there will be riots), but the plot line and all the twists, turns and little details in the movie was just mind-blowingly amazing. I can honestly say that it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. They've definitely set the new bar for action movies with this one.

    One thing I was sad about, though, was that they introduced and killed Two-Face in the same movie. Two-Face was always one of my favorite villians because of who he was: one of Bruce's best friends who turned mental and presented yet another faucet of troubling choices for Batman. I mean, yeah, Joker's his arch-nemesis, but Harvey is a troubled friend. And that can be one of the most difficult and damaging things to deal with in life.

    But yes, overall, an amazing movie. I just wonder who they're going to get to take Heath's role in future installments. Whoever it is has some big shoes and expectations to fill.
