I find the best way to get a long writing project done is to kind of keep it simmering in the back of your head, and then when you have a long stretch of time when you don't want to do anything sit down and start your first line with "So".
Actually I'm kidding about starting your first line. I only say that because I seem to start 75% of my own posts with it. =P
