Ah, my family is from China, but we now live in America. :D So, we sort of celebrate Chinese New Year differently....not as many families to start using firecrackers and such.

I know, right? But, some people are embarrassed to still be receiving money as an adult, so they would sometimes ask to not get any money. And nowadays, it's mainly the kids that get the money.

So the Chinese new year is based off of the lunar calendar and lasts for 15 days. The first and last day have their own names as well. It's like latern festival or something. Kids and not married adults also get money in small red paper bags. We throw large parties, inviting practically everyone we know. And the asian adults usually chat, play card games, and are sometimes louder than the kids- LOL.
