Yoki n' Lin Ling

I continued on to my other classes, not seeing him in any of them I just came to the conclusion that was the only class I would have with him. About lunchtime I decided that I would go check on Ayu. Her mother took her home.

“Lin Ling-san!”
“How are you doing, Ayu?”
“Good. It is much, much more comfortable here.”
“I bet. So, what did the doc. say?”
“He said, that it will heal in 2-3 weeks. I have to use these stupid crutches.”
“Aw, they're not that bad… Think of it this way, we can be late to Mr. Huniko class and he can’t say anything!”
“Hmm… I didn’t think about that. No more worries about being late!”
“Well, if it wasn’t for Sukami, I would have been today. But he told Mr. Huniko about what happened so I was off the hook.”
“So, I take it that he has our class now?”
“Yes, he kept me company while you were gone.”
“He didn’t take my set did he?”
“No, no, no! I made sure of that. He is sitting on the right of me.”
“Aw, some one’s got a crush on certain someone.”
(Blushes)
“No! It’s not like that…”
“So did you get a name outta him?”
“Yea, It’s Yoki.”
“Oh what an unusual name!”
“I guess… but I think its kind of cute.”
“Maybe… hay did you see Simison?
“No, but its only noon. I might see him later today. I’ll tell him to stop by.”
“Okay… Well you’d better be getting back.”
“Yea, well take care, and stay off that leg!”
“No worries, I will!”

After promising her to find Simison, I was off. It was around 13:30. Fifth period has already started; there was no denying it now, I am going to be late. As I huffed and puffed my way back to school I came upon a little silver-ish, gray kitten. It was limping, and looked very hurt. I couldn’t help but want to nurture it. I walked over to it, very slowly and cautiously. I bent down to inspect its injuries. As I brushed its gorgeous silver-ish gray hair, I noticed her gray-ish blue eyes. They looked sad, and looked at me, as she was all-alone in this world. I just took her into my arms, after that. I couldn’t bear leaving her; she was mine now. I hide her in my bag for now; she seemed to like it in there. It was dark and I had no books in it, considering I forgot them, from having to rush off so quickly this morning. So she was safe and sound in my bag. I waited until Fifth period to end before entering the halls, to farther hide that I was gone all Fifth period. As tens of people cover the halls, I pushed my way onto my next class, Chemistry; my second favorite class.

“Konnichiwa, Mr. Kirtaplik!”
“Good evening to you too, Miss Nakashima. Ikaga desu ka?”
“I am just great! Thank you!”
“Where is Ayu?”
“She sprained her ankle. She will be back tomorrow, but on crutches.”
“Oh that’s no good. How did she do that number?”
“We were running to school and she tripped.”
“I see. Well I guess you’ll just have to work alone today.”
“I don’t know about that Mr. Kirta! She’ll just have to work with me!”
“(Oh, no, not Reo…)”
“Come on, sweetims. Come to your koibito…”
“One I am not your sweetims, and two your are not my sweetheart! Reo, can’t you go out with someone else?”
“No, not at all. I must have you. You are my essence to my serenity.”
“Oh get over it, Reo! I do not like you!”
“Is this guy bothering you, Linikoko?”
“Oh Simi-san! No…well yes, he is, by a matter of fact.”
“Reo, what have I told you about the acts of wooing a girl?”
“’Never oppress them, or attach to them.’”
“And never, ever annoy them!”
“Oh, yeah, right. That one too.”
“Reo, if you ever want a beautiful gal like mine, then you have to step it up a notch. Got it?”
“Yes, Simison, my Sensei!”
“So Lin Ling, where IS my gal? I haven’t seen her all day, I was starting to miss her.”
“She hurt her ankle coming to school this morning. She wants you to stop by and see her.”
“Oh really? Is she okay?”
“Yea, just in a lil’ pain.”
“Well I will stop by later, I have some business to attend to after school, but I wont be any later than dusk.”

Class went on. This does that, and that does this, so on and so on. Sooner than we knew it the bell was ringing and we were running out the door again. Seventh period just flew by as fast as the last one did. By the time I sat down I was getting up, or at lest it felt like that. As I left the classroom, after the last bell rang telling us all to go home, I came to find a certain someone waiting for me.

“Hello beautiful…!”
“Yoki! What are you doing here?”
“Well I go to school here!”
“You know what I mean! Why did you wait by my class?”
“For you…”
“Oh… (Blushes) Well you didn’t have to.”
“Nah, it was nothing!”
“So what are you going to do now?”
“Well, see I was hoping you would go get some tea with me. Maybe read me a poem out of the hundreds you’ve wrote.”
“Well… Um…”
“If you don’t want to, it’s okay, I can take a hint.”
“No, no, no, it’s not that! I just have to ask my parents...”
“Oh, I see… Well in that case, we better hurry!” Yoki said while grabbing her hand and starts to run.
“Um… Wait! Cell phone…” Lin Ling said while dangling her cell phone
“Oh, yeah… heh heh heh, Right… I knew that.”
“Right… Anyways.” Lin Ling said while she dials the number
(Ring, ring.)
“(Moshi moshi)”
“Hi, mom, I’m at school and I was wondering if I could go get some tea with a friend?”
“(That would be fine, dear. But on your way back could you pick up some milk, we are out.)”
“Okay, I will. See you later, love you mom.”
“(Love you too, dear.)”
“Okay, we are all set!”
“Good, now, where to go…hmm... I GOT IT!” Yoki said while grabbing her hand, again. Then starts to run.
“Yoki! Slow down! Where are you taking me?”
“Just hold on!”
Passing many stores and teahouses.
“Yoki! Where are we going?” Lin Ling said with giggles
“Just a lil’ longer!” (Smiles)

They go through a long ally, then they stop at a little restaurant with a tiny sign that say’s ‘Ikki’s Place’

“It may not look like much, but this place is awesome! This is where me and my band play on weekends.”
“Really? I didn’t know you hand a band?”
“You never asked.” Yoki said while opening the door
“Wow! This place looks amazing!” Lin Ling said with delight
“I told you. Lets sit over there, by the window.”
“Okay…”
“This is my favorite spot, in the whole town. Even though I have only been here about a month.”
“Wow, a whole month! Why haven’t I seen you around school?”
“Well when I first got here, you were at winter break, but then my aunt Teia became ill, so they needed someone to watch the family business. So I pitched in up until this past week. A total of three weeks. Working behind a counter, selling pottery.”
“Wow, that’s like totally cool! So why did you move here?”
“It’s a long story, I’ll save it for another time, k?”
“Okay…”
“So how long have you been living here?” said Yoki
“Well, I was born here, along with my mother and father, and their parents. The Nakashima name has been here for a very long time. But it originally came from main land, Japan.”
“Really? Is that so?” Said Yoki jokingly
“Yes, and my mother still wears kimono’s! So old fashion…”
“Well what’s wrong with that?”
“Well… Um… I don’t know.”
“Then why is it so bad? I think that is cool. To have someone in your life that exhibits your culture, that is just awesome.”
“Well I never looked at it that way before.”
“That’s because no one has ever told you any different.”
“Well…maybe…But…”
“But nothing… Except your mother for who she is and embrace that you are the daughter of the one women who still wears her colors proud.”
“Okay, I will… If you help me…”
“Of course! No problem!”
"(moww, moww)"
"What is that noise?" said Yoki with suspition
"Oh no! I forgot about her!" Lin Ling said while pulling out the little kitten from earlier
"A kitten?"
"I found her down an ally down Uniki Street. I was on my way back to school, after visiting Ayu at lunch, when I saw her just lying there. She looked hurt. So I went to see if she was alright, but as soon as I picked her up and held her in my arms, there was no giving her up."
"So she's been in your bag all day?" Yoki says while taking the kitten from Lin Ling.
"Yes, and been quite 'til now..."
"Well she's been cooped up all day, what do you expect? She looks like she hasn't been feed in days! John, can you bring us some warm milk in a bowl, oh… and two tea's." Yoki said while waving over John, the waiter.
"So what are you going to name her?" said Yoki with a smile.
"I don't know yet... I was hoping you'd help me name her."
"Well what about Ulissa? That’s a cute name."
"Uh, nah, it's too plain..."
"Then how 'bout Yunie?"
"Hm, could work but I was more thinking of something that resembles the moon, because her hair is silver-ish blue, see?
"Well then, how 'bout princess moon?"
"Well... that could work... but... I don't know why, but it seems cliché."
"Okay then, miss picky, what about Kikiru?"
"Hmm, I like it!"
"Well Kikiru it is. Do you like your name Kikiru? (Mow, mow)"
"Aw, she likes it!"
"Yoki, here's your tea, and that milk you ordered." Said John, the waiter.
"Oh, thank you John. So are we playing next week?"
"Yes, the boss already approved it. Are you bringing this pretty gal along too?"
"If she wants to come..." Says Yoki while smiling at Lin Ling
"Well... errm...."
"Oh come on, it'll be fun! Don't make me beg..."
"Well...."
"Please, pretty please!"
"Okay, okay! I'll go, but I have to ask my mom first."
"Alright then, it's a date!"
"Well... I guess it is..."
"Well Yoki, I have to be getting back to work, or tha boss will be gettin' onto me again."
"See ya later, John."
"So are you ever going to read me one of those poems?"
"Oh, yeah, sure!" Lin Ling said while getting her book.
"So what is the name of this one?"
"Life In Chaos,

Existing,
All around,
Chaos surrounds me...

Big world,
Small girl,
Choices everyday...

Spinning around,
Many things to see,
Never enough time...

One step at a time,
Don't fall,
For you may lose it all..."

"Well said... You are truly a great poet! You have this out look of the world, which not many can see. You see the world in all its beauty and its defects. See, you write poetry, like I sing. With all your body and soul."
"Wow... I never thought that you would like it that much... "
"Well, why wouldn't I? I knew your work would be good, I just underestimated how beautiful it really is."
"Oh, you really thought that about my work?"
"Of course! Why wouldn't I?"
"I don't know... heh...” Lin Ling Said blushing.
“Oh my! It’s almost 21:00! I need to be heading home!”
