Personally, I would give the situation a little breathing room, and see what happens. Sometimes, in the heat of everything, situations feel more hazardous than they actually are. Just don't let the 'tension' get in the way of how you normally act around the guy. Even if he's not into you like that, he should still feel comfortable enough to still maintain your prior relationship as coworkers. If he can't, he wasn't worth the breath in the first place.
