F&H Chapter 23: Kurogane's curse.

(Let me remind everyone that I wrote this fan fiction a looong time ago. What ever I resolve here were my predictions of both the Harry Potter series, and the Tsubasa chronicle series. No, book 21 of tsubasa was not in english when I was in middle school. So although now we know Kurogane's curse that Tomoyo gave him is actually a charm of protection, I have written this as though it was still a weakening curse. Also stay tuned to how my firm belief in Snape shows through to the end. Something tells me this will take a while to type. Enjoy!)

Chapter 23: Kurogane's Curse.

Kyo ran as fast as he could to Fai's office. He was relieved to see Ami already there.
"Thank goodness!"

Fai looked startled by Kyo's reaction. Kyo blushed in embarrassment. "Fai, what is the plan, I mean for a suitable weapon with which to fight?"

Fai smiled. "Well, we will rely mostly on our wands and wits, but I have something additionally in mind." He called Mokona over. "Mokona, we need to talk to Yuko, the space-time witch."

Mokona closed its eyes and shot out a beam of transparent light through its mouth. Kyo fearfully backed away. Wasn't this the same witch who took away Sakura's memory of Syaoran so that she could travel with the group? Ami took a step back as well, though she responded out of her surprise. A tall, lean woman appeared within the light. "What's up?"She asked.

Fai cleared his throat. "I need that spell that we discussed earlier."

Yuko frowned. "The spirit wave orb as I warned you, has purifying abilities that are enhanced depending upon how evil the foe may be. Should you use this against Voldemort, there is no telling what draining effects this spell may have upon the user, or to what extent you will be able to control it."

"I understand. What is the price?" Fai asked cheerfully.

Yuko thought for a moment. "Since this power has never been really tested since the psychic Genkai created it, there is no way for me to truly know how much it is worth. However, it is worth a great deal to you, Fai, so you must make me an equal trade. I am very intrigued by this world of magic and I know that you have been experimenting with invisible ink. This is your price. I want your ability to make words invisible."

Fai blinked. "That's all? It seems like an unfair trade."

Yuko smiled mysteriously. "Perhaps to you. Perhaps I am taking something in which I have a much larger interest than you. But then, even I get greedy sometimes."

Fai retrieved all of the invisible ink that he possessed, and passed it through Mokona's mouth. The image of Yuko showed that she had recieved the ink, and then blurred.

Kyo looked at Fai with wonder. "Do you feel any different?"

Fai bit his lip and made a weak reply. "Nope, but I am hungry."

Kyo shook his head. They were all going to die.

Folding her arms, Ami asked, "So, we just go to Snape's office, and then what? Ask Voldemort if he'll surrender peacefully because he's surrounded by two underage wizards and a fraud DADA teacher?"

"That's one possibility," Fai answered.

"Well, if we're going to do this, then lets do it now." Kyo said, and quickly exited, and crossed to Snape's office. The others followed, knowing his thoughts were locked on Sakura-chan.

-------------------------------------------------
Ami looked around, blinking in the ink-like blackness of the dimly-lit room. Would this be the night when they finally found all the answers? Would they live to share those answers?

"Over here," She heard Kyo whisper. "There's a trap door below Snape's desk."

"Is it safe?" Ami asked.

"Seems to be," he returned. With that, Kyo took a leap into the hole, landing safely on firm ground. Ami blindly fell through the hole and Fai winced as she fell. Taking note of where the hole began, Fai jumped gracefully through the gap and looked to where Kyo and Ami were. Kyo was already helping Ami to her feet.

"I'm sorry guys, I'm such a clutz."

"This isn't the time for pointless excuses," Kyo said. "Just be careful from here on out."

An amused voice filled the room. "It's too late for the three of you. There is no exit to this basement but up. And I've taken your wands."

Kyo felt at the side pocket of his cloak. Just as the phantom voice had said, his wand was gone. Fai and Ami desperately checked as well, but it was futile.

"Who's there?!" Kyo demanded. "Snape?"

Blinding lights eliminated the abnormal fog of darkness that surrounded them. "No. But Snape is here." The mock-casual voice echoed around the room. Kyo's eyes adjusted quickly to the light, and he was able to see the owner of the voice.

"Yuki." Kyo said the name with a painful edge.
Uncontained laughter fell from Yuki's mouth. "No. I am Lord Voldemort! Now, witness, as I rise to power once more!"

Kyo looked behind him. Sakura was chained to a wall, guarded by the ever-faithful Snape. He had to rescue her. But how?

"The girl will help me immensely, or rather, her feathers will!"

Kyo smirked. "Sakura-chan would never give them to you!"

"No?" Voldemort smiled. "Snape! The potion, is it ready?"

Kyo's eyes widened. Of course. They were going to force her somehow to unwillingly give them up! And, truth be told, he was helpless without his wand. By some miracle, he had remembered to bring his christmas gift- the gloves that could generate fire. Those would come in handy. Also, Fai seemed pretty composed. That must mean he has a plan.

Suddenly afraid, Ami stood by Kyo and watched as Snape held a vile of silver liquid to Sakura's pale lips. It looked as though she had not eated properly in days. And her legs were askew, healing wrong. It was torture to look at her frail body. But it did work to intensify his need for revenge. Kyo ran at Snape, but it was too late. Snape discarded the vile and Sakura's eyes widened in pain. "Sakura-chan!!!"

Sakura's green eyes turned it's complementery color, as if to foreshadow the bloody battle that was about to insue. But Sakura didn't even seem to see Kyo, or recognize him. Without warning, Sakura toppled over the chains binding her no longer.

"Rise, servant." Voldemort commanded. "Faithfully serve your new master and return me to life with the fragments of your soul!"

A skull-like burn mark appeared on Sakura's arm, revealed beneath her shredded sleaves of her school robe. Chris fought as tears began to surface in his eyes. He couldn't believe what was happening. Sakura wasn't a death eater! Kyo's eyes showed his understanding. "COWARD!I see it now! Those you can't recruit to your side you either kill or control!"

Voldemort smirked. "So you've finally figured it out. It's the most valuable discovery I've made yet. The dark mark is not merely a symbol of loyalty, it is also infused with the imperius curse! My death eaters know what awaits defiance. The more they resist, the more their body is tortured. Depending on how much they struggle, their body will shut down for a peroid of time, and then they awaken under my complete control!"

Kyo turned to look at Snape. "That's what happened to him? You mean he's innocent?!"

"Now you're catching on. But if you think that I am merely sharing this boy's body then you would be most mistaken. I am controlling his SOUL!"

Kyo stared at Yuki's body. What did he mean?

"You look puzzled," Voldemort said. "Let me give you a clue. This boy is dead. I killed him myself. Does that help you any?"

Kyo tightened his fist. "So Kabuto was dead too? You switched because the body was beginning to decay! I'm going to kill you you parasite!"

Kyo lunged at the wizard with flaming fists. Voldemort never even drew his wand. Sakura was instantly in front of the dark lord and Kyo quickly released his tight fist if he hadn't he would have thrown his punches straight into her ribs. "Whaa--?"

Sakura assumed a fighting position.

"By the way," Voldemort said with a yawn. "I thought you might like to know that the reason this pathetic excuse for a school is playing quidditch with a one-winged snitch, isn't because it is easier to catch. I sent Snape to steal the snitch last year, but he only came back with one wing. He said something about not being able to touch the rest of it. Well, I decided that if something was to be done right, I would do it myself, only to realize in the most recent quidditch match, that indeed, I too felt the snitch try to repel me. Conveniently, the feathers sensed the presence of Sakura and returned to her body shortly after she was knocked out of the sky. The wing I was able to retrieve consisted of 8 feathers. And now I have the rest!"

Kyo was sent flying into one wall. Ami and Fai knew it was useless to hide. They were in Voldemort's territory now.

A burst of green light erupted from Sakura. Surrounding her now were all of the feathers that she and her friends had worked so hard to collect. Her memories, the fragments of her soul.

Greedily, Voldemort snatched the feathers from the bright sphere. "I think I'll leave her with two. So she'll have just enough life left to kill you!"

Between Ami's silent disbelief and Kyo's morbid dispair, the giggles coming from Fai seemed oddly misplaced.

"What?" Voldemort snapped.

Fai was muffling his giggles with one hand. "It's just.... You rhymed!"

Voldemort raised his eyebrows. "Kill them," He instructed to Sakura.

Ami flung herself at Voldemort, causing him to loose his balance. Sakura paused, mid-attack, as though she were fighting the imperius mark. Ami managed to grab a bunch of feathers from Voldemort before he could absorb them, and stuffed them into her robe. "Wheet Woo!" Fai said in the place of a whistle.

Voldemort stood up again. "Curse this child's body that I'm confined to!" He envisioned the tall, well-built Kurogane who he held captive with the others whom he suspected of knowing too much. Yes, he thought, his soul will do.

Sakura attacked Ami, who stuck to defense. Meanwhile, Voldemort said something to Snape. Sakura hit Ami square in the jaw and sent her flying backward. For a moment Snape disappeared, and then returned with a struggling Kurogane. Sakura paused for a moment as her companion was brought in. Taking this chance, Ami summoned her wand with all of her will. Obediently, the wand jumped into her waiting hand.

"Makai!" Ami shouted the spell Fai had taught them.

Voldemort spun around. Sakura blinked. Ami had vanished!

Voldemort shrugged and continued to speak to Snape. "That girl Ami is hiding. She's taken 14 of the feathers. Once I've killed Kurogane, I'll find her."

Kurogane stiffened. "You freak! There's no way that you're killing me! After we collect the feather's from this world I'm going home to Tomoyo!"

Voldemort pointed his wand at the ninja. Kurogane raised his sword. "I'm not afraid of your stick! Hyaaa!"

Fai realized Kurogane was planning to trample Yuki's body. "Wait Kurogane!"

Kurogane made an abrupt stop. Fai was serious. He hadn't used an honorific.

Voldemort shouted the unforgivable curse, "Avada Kedavra!"Kurogane's face contorted in agony. Yuki's body hit the cold stone floor.

"KUROGANE!" Fai shouted.

Kyo tried to get up, his head pulsing with pain. Obviously, whatever Fai's plan had been, Kurogane's death had not been a part of it. So now, he would just have to improvise. Kyo found his wand carelessly tossed to the ground and grabbed it.

Kurogane began to laugh madly, abandoning his prized sword. "Now where is Ami?"

By now, Ami's spell had worn off, and she appeard behind Kyo, wand tightly clenched in her hand.

Voldemort came at Kyo and the two began sending spells flying at eachother at a rapid pace. Sakura resumed her fight with Ami. The two students watched as Fai slipped away and skillfully knocked Snape out, and began freeing all who were captured.

Fai was unlocking the last cell when Voldemort caught him in the corner of his eye. "Enough!" Voldemort hissed. "Die all of you!"

Lifting his wand, Voldemort created a bomb of flames over their heads. Fai was the only on the escape the full blast, while he lost sight of Kyo in the fire and watched helplessly as all of the prisoners screamed their last breaths. Sakura pinned Ami to the blazing wall and allowed Voldemort to approach. Directing the tip of his wand at her throat, Voldemort said harshly, "Tell me where you have hidden the---ayyiii!!!!"

A burned Kyo had come behind Voldemort and twisted his wand hand out of place. He heard a snap. Taking Voldemort's wand, he tossed it into the flames. Voldemort stared in shock and dismay.

Fai grabbed Voldemort by Kurogane's shirt colar. "Do you think you can beat me with your bare hands?"

"You'll regret this!" Voldemort howled, raising his left fist to strike him. But his body would not obey his commands. "Why do I feel. So. Weak?"

Fai punched Voldemort in the face. "Kurogane's soul was cursed. He was forbidden to ever kill needlessly. Now you will pay the price of your actions!" Fai focused on the stunned opponent. "Spirit Wave Orb! Purify!" Fai touched Kurogane's chest with two fingers. Voldemort's essense rose from Kurogane's body restoring Kurogane to his body. A faint image of Voldemort lingered in the underground room. "Be gone!" Fai demanded.
The ghost vanished.

"And stay out." Kurogane added.

Fai looked at Kurogane with a smile. "I thought you would be gone forever."

Kurogane shook his head. "Shut up. Look over there. Your purifying tactic has restored everyone here."

Fai was startled and turned to see the scorching flames begin to die under a cool blue haze that had been created by the Spirit Wave. Beneath the fire, the prisoners stood up and looked at each other in wonder at the miracle.

Fai smiled. "In the face of evil and death, the spirit wave was able to draw the power of revitilization." He slumped backward in exhaustion.

"Easy now," Kurogane said, helping him to his feet. "You have to get out of this with us, or I'll be really angry."

"Right. Sorry, Kuro-pon." Fai stood and turned to Ami. "Where DID you leave the feathers any way?"

Ami laughed, supporting an unconscious Sakura. "I went to japan for three minutes using that spell you taught us, and I put them somewhere safe."

"That spirit stuff really works!" Kurogane said, looking at his arm in surprise. Although Kyo had broken it when Kurogane was under Voldemort's control, it was perfectly fine now.

"Kuro-whoof!Ami was talking. Shhh!"

Ami laughed. "It's okay. Anyway, I'll go get the feather's now."

F&H- Hearing is believing

Chapter 20: Hearing is believing (You asked for more, I typed it up ^_^)

Kyo couldn't see much through the darkness, and he didn't to be seen by his wand-light. As he headed for Fai's office, he took the shape of his animagus animal: the cat. In his hurry, traveling on instict, he was already at the office door. Kyo was good enough at magic that he could cast an opening charm without the use of his wand. However, The spell on this door was not simple at all. This was intriguing, perhaps he had not come to the right place after all. Fai would have no reason to seal his office shut.

Placing his alert ear to the door, he heard a voice. Was it Yuki's? No-- his evil twin, Kyo figured. Drat, he hadn't heard what he had said. Stay calm Kyo! He thought harshly. You have to listen.

"Maybe, but Master, we have three more days. Then the potion for Sakura will be complete." Snape's voice...

Yuki sounded as though he were smiling. "Good, and then this little one will give me anything I want."

Kyo was horrorstriken. Was she in there with them right now?! If she was unconscious.... but what could he do? He remembered that Sakura's feathers contained her soul, containing all of her memories and magic. If that was what Snape-- Yuki-- was after, than what would be left of the Sakura when her soul was gone? He couldn't think about it.

What he WAS certain of now, however, was that they had been wrong . Yuki and Kabuto were the same person! Voldemort. He had limited power, and didn't want to be discovered, so he must have been shape shifting to take on different aliases. The real Yuki and Kabuto were probably being held captive somewhere... the same place Sakura would most likely be taken to.

Yuki's voice returned. "You will meet me here again. Do not be late."

Some rustling. Kyo realized the ravenclaw look-alike was leaving. Kyo lightly ran to the shadows and waited for the hall to turn silent.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fai was awoken to the sound of hurried scraping. Rubbing his eyes he went to the door and saw the most adorable cat waiting there for him. As soon as he brought him inside, however, that cat was replaced by a frantic Kyo.

"Kyo?"

"Yeah."

"Huh. You do know it's three in the morning don't you?"

Kyo hushed him. "We have to destroy Voldemort now, before he's been completely revived!"
He told Fai all he had heard.

Fai sighed, feeling the end approaching. From what he understood, Sakura was in grave danger, and would unwillingly give up her soul to bring that monster back to full power. "I fear that now, our time is limited. If we can't destroy him in three days, we will be helpless against him."

Kyo looked him helplessly in the eyes. "So what do we have to do?"

Fai made a mischievous smile. "I don't have a plan. Shall we conspire?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kyo thought the plan over in his mind. It was almost perfect. But, anything could happen at this point. As he crawled back into bed, he told himself that there was nothing he could do yet. If he played his cards right, he could save Sakura without putting her in danger. If he tried to attack Voldemort now, he would only fail and bring her more pain. He HATED the thought of Sakura being in the hands of those fiends. It literally took all his self -control to not disregard Fai's orders, and march into Snapes office, throw a few punches and bring her back. But he had made a promise to Fai, and he couldn't let him down.

It was strange to think that the next day would be May.

His dreams played fearful images to illustrate the conversation he had over heard. He was standing behind a few boxes, on wooden, rather than the usual tile floors, and he could smell something akin to rotting flesh. A light went on, revealing the face of Yuki and he lowered his eyes in pain. Then he saw the unconscious, steadily breathing Sakura, who was resting against the corner behind them. At least she was asleep. In his dream, he left the covering of the boxes and began to through punches at Yuki. But then he stopped. What if this really is Yuki? And not someone else transformed? What if Yuki is being possessed? If I fight him, then Yuki will be hurt, not the one controlling him! Yuki's fists hammered the nonresponsive Kyo like nails on wood.

Then, Kyo woke up.

F&H Chapter 18- The cat chases the mouse?

Hey everyone, this is a new chapter! I'm going to just go ahead and type it right into the post. Hope you enjoy!
-------------------------------
It was 9:30, Ami and Kyo slipped through the halls. If they were caught, the mission would be a failure, and they would be forced to wait until that friday to continue their search for the truth. Ami crept behind a tip-toeing Kyo. "Why did WE have to come here again?" Ami whispered in his ear.

Kyo paused. " All the other girls have already done this. We don't want that prefect getting suspicious. Besides Syaoran and Sakura, we are all that haven't participated."

Ami nodded in her reluctant agreement. She was supposed to be the one planning the plots, not carrying them out. "There it is," Kyo said. Ami looked up and saw the school gates. Kyo crouched low and motioned to Ami to follow in his example.

They waited, and waited.

Ami wondered if the missing prefect would even show up at all. She couldn't see much in the dark. All the firelight in Hogwarts had been blown out for the night, and a cold breeze floated through the open window. Everything else was deathly still. Her eyes shifted to the body beside her, which she assumed was Kyo's, The tensed position he upheld had remained unchanged since they had first approached the quiet room. Ami, however, was moving-- or rather, she was trembling. The clock made a long pattern of chimes. Ten O-clock.

Ami waited intensely and Kyo finally shifted in front of her, out of impatience. Staring in front of her, Ami saw nothing. She was finally about to give up when the sound of footsteps came to her ears- surprizingly loud!

A wand lit up and a young boy was illuminated by it's glow. It wasn't the prefect.
-------------------------------------------------Comercials XD------------

The boy looked around. Kyo's eyes widened. Ami felt a chill of uncertainty and tugged at Kyo's sleeve. Was he standing?!
Kyo glared and rose, to Ami's horror. The boy could see him now!
When Kyo spoke, his voice was trembling. "Y-Yuki?"
The boy in front of them was also shaking now. Yuki seemed to fight himself as he shouted, "Stay away!" Stumbling, the boy dashed to the back of the room, his wand dimming, until he was swallowed up by the darkness.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You blew your cover?!" Syaoran asked in disbelief. He continued to chastise Kyo. "What could have happened back there for you to do such a thing?"

"Syaoran..." Ami began. " At ten, a boy appeared, but it wasn't the Gryffindor prefect."

"Okay, then who was it?"

Ami flinched.

"Yuki," Kyo said. " I hadn't seen him for so long... but he... and then..." He couldn't continue.
------------------------------------

Ami began to recognize Yuki, the Ravenclaw. He'd been in her house the whole time! She realized the rest of the group was suspicious of him, but she couldn't forget the look of horror that had streched across Kyo's face when Yuki repelled him. Who was he to Kyo?

But after that, there was no sign of Yuki or Kabuto, so they were sure that something stranger than strange was going on.
----------------------------------------

Finally, Sakura would play in her first quidditch match. She kicked off into the air on the whistle and searched the sky for the helecopter-like snitch.
" The Hufflepuff vs. Ravenclaw match has begun!" She heard Syaoran's voice close to her. It was comforting. Louder than all the cheers, she could depict Kyo's shouts of encouragement from the crowd. Smiling, she rose into the air. Then, a distant glint in the sunlight. There it was! Racing after it, the Ravenclaw's team seeker (which happened to be Yuki, she made a note) started to gain on her. Pushing forward, she sped after it, eager to finish the game. Startled, she almost paused mid-race as Yuki came to a stop.

Oh well, She thought, now I can get the snitch!

She continued on, not seeing Yuki make hand motions in the air to a section of the crowd.

She had it! Reaching out, she attempted to grab it while her broom remained in motion. Abruptly, her broom began to buck her off. It was like a rodeo, and she could barely hold onto the broom! It thrusted and whirrled in the air as she fought to regain control of her broomstick

"Hagrid!" Kyo said, turning to the professor behind him. "Something is wrong with Sakura's broom!"

Hagrid took his binoculars and held them to his face. "No, let me see those!" Kyo said, grabbing frantically for them. He directed his gaze to Snape. Sure enough, Snape was chanting something under his breath-- his gaze directly on Sakura.

F&H Chapter 16- A different master

New chapter! Enjoy!

The friends found that, even with Snape there, they weren't able to gather the information they needed. Sakura had abandoned the technique:hide, and decided that strength in numbers also helped. Fai had returned, so they didn't have to worry about Snape teaching DADA . The second quarter students in Hufflepuff and Gryffinfor had potions class substituted by Herbology.

With Professor Sprout gone , Hagrid took her place. Hagrid resembled how Kyo had envisioned a giant would be. Despite being a tall man, Hagrid was a gentle man, with a ridiculous obsession for dangerous magical creatures. So far, all they hd learned from him what you should do if: You wanted your plants to die, your flowers to wilt, or a man-eating plant to eat less people.

Since Ami was in Ravenclaw, she still had to suffer through Snape's harsh potions classes. But, she could also spy on him in person. Everyone rejoyced when they saw Fai, but he looked terribly distant and weak. Kyo overheard other hufflepuffs say that Fai was afraid that whatever had happened to Kurogane, would soon happen to him. Sakura thought Fai was concerned for Kurogane's well-being, and Sakura reminded him that Fai depended on Kurogane for blood. Of course, they decided it would be better not to reveal to Kyo that Fai was a vampire. Despite his weakness, Fai continued increasing his students' skill in defensive magic until he was sure they could handle anything from a tall cliff to a three headed dragon. " You will need your magic in tough situations." He told them, and Kyo couldn't agree more.

--------------------------------------

Fai smiled. "What's on your mind, Syaoran."

Syaoran grinned. "You could tell, huh? Oh, I was just thinking about what Kurogane once asked. 'I wonder where the real Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is.' Now other teachers are vanishing too. Maybe we can add this as clue? There could be a connection."

Fai nodded. "You have a point, but won't it confuse your new friends if you tell them I'm not really their teacher?"

Syaoran chuckled. " I don't believe there's anything that coul.d surprise them now."

Fai continued to nodd and took it under consideration. Perhaps they were onto something. The teacher disappearances may be the key.

--------------------------------------------

"Happy Valentine's Day!!!" Sakura woke up with a start. People were talking very loudly downstairs. Sleepily, she slipped into her robes and glanced at the magical calendar on her wall. The page said, "February 14- Valentine's day." Sakura couldn't believe that she'd forgotten. Sakura took out a paper and quill and wrote, " Dear Syaoran.... I am thankful for all youv'e done for me. For you, I promise that I will one day remember everything about you... and myself. You're so caring and always know how I feel, nd I cherish every moment we spend together. Your BFF, Sakura." And of course, there was Kyo's letter to write. " Dear Kyo, I'm so happy that you wanted to be my friend at the beginning of the year. I felt so lost and alone when Syaoran was placed in Gryffindor, and I don't think I could have pulled through without you. So when's the next Quidditch match? Do you know? I sure don't. I practice with the team after school everyday, but I can never remember the skirmish dates.Yours Truly, Sakura.

She laughed at herself, realizing how much she enjoyed signing her name. It also never occured to her how important names were. Suddenly, images and voices grew loud in her mind, swirling around in a dizzying fashion. Then, she was in a familiar scene. The prefect and Snape were talking about her. " The girls name," the prefect was saying, "that is all you need, right?"

Snape nodded, " Once I have her name, I can make that potion you need." Sakura's eyes widened.
The prefect smiled a smile one wears when he is enjoying an execution. " The girl's name... It's Sakura." Sakura watched in horror as Snape bowed low before him. Kabuto told him to rise and Snape left the room. Slowly she was drawn out of the memory and felt herself fall back into her own feet, that still rested upon the ground of the hufflepuff dormintory. Syaoran had told her once before that she had unawakened powers. Had what she seen possibly have been real? If it had, that meant Snape worked for the prefect, not the other way around. Sakura remembered seeing herself and Kyo leaving the room when the playback had begun, which suggested it was not a true memory. Talk about De ja vu, Sakura thought. It was as though she saw what had transpired in the Great Hall after she went to try out for Quidditch. Collecting the notes she had written, Sakura hastily left the common room.

-------------------------------

Dumbledore sat at the front of the Great Hall, Sakura at a long table therein. The very same table had been part of the background of her daymare.

"Happy Valentine's day," Dumbledore said cheerfully. He couldn't have known of the dark cloud over Sakura's sunny thoughts, but his bright voice still seemed misplaced to her. "The cupids Hagrid hired will deliver all of your notes to that special someone. On a darker note...I'm sorry to inform you that as long as the teachers are missing, you cannot go anywhere unplanned off campus or through the halls without a prefect. This is for your own safety."

Sakura saw Syaoran frown, but she knew he couldn't understand how terrible this news really was.. After seeing what she had, Sakura had to warn him about the ever-increasingly-disturbing Gryffindor prefect.

" House points have been calculated once more. First place: Gryffindor. Second place: Ravenclaw. Third place is a tie between Hufflepuff and Slytherin."

Sakura dashed o the Gryffindor table. Syaoran was blushing. " Sakura--"

She interrupted him. "I have to tell everyone something VERY important. This cannot wait!" Together, they snuck out of the dining hll as the cupids began their deliveries. Kyo followed.

"What's up?" Syaoran asked when somehow the whole group had managed to meet in Fai's office. Sakura wasn't sure how to say what was on her mind. " The prefect, Kabuto, he's different than we thought."

"Innocent?"

Sakura stood on top of on of the chairs. "No! Not innocent... More guilty. We had it wrong though, he doesn't work for Snape. Snape works for him."

"Are you sure," Syaoran asked, feeling no need at the moment to question how she had gotten the new information. Sakura nodded. The rest watched as Syaoran pondered in his mind what this meant. " All of you, from Gryffindor, act like nothing is different. Snape only knows that Sakura, Kyo and I are friends. No one else knows that you girls even interact with us, do they?"

Ami spoke, "We never really speak about them, do we?" The other girls, all of whom were in Gryffindor, not Ravenclaw with Ami, agreed.

Syaoran relaxed. "Good. If anything, this can work to our advantage. If Kabuto heads somewhere, tell him you are going the same direction, and he'll have to accompany you there, with that new "never alone" rule. See where he goes."

The rest nodded and headed back to breakfast in the chaos of gifts and letters before they were missed. "Sakura-chan," Syaoran said, " I don't want you to spy. Keep safe.Oh!" Sakura watched him pull out a box of chocolates. "Only for you, Valentine," He said.

Sakura hugged him happily. " Thank you!." He opened that cupid shoved into his hand. When he was done reading it, it looked like tears were in his eyes. Not of joy, of despair.

"What's wrong?" Sakura asked, fearing the worst. Maybe I shouldn't have included the part about remembering him, she thought. But, Syaoran wasn't upset about that. His tears were for how much she had lost.

"It's okay, Syaoran-kun. Whatever it is will turn out fine in the end. I'm sure we'll be alright."

Syaoran dried his eyes. Of course she was right, like always.

End
