Yeah, the OVA got wierd like that as it was supposed to be 12 episodes long, so things got crammed together, and it's unfinished and the plot holes are everywhere. I have yet to watch 2040 (got it all on VHS though), but I really just love the OVA for the art and the music.

I'd still rather watch Bubblegum Crisis 2040 than the old OVAs. Wasn't the story unfinished in the OVAs? I know they were done over a number of years with gaps in between, so I think 2040 has more consistency.

The only anime I've seen out of the ones you mentioned is Tenchi Muyo, and even that one was so long ago that I can't say I'd remember it that well. So derp on me, I guess. :V
