Glad to see that you enjoyed that show. Yeah, it was awesome. Now that you're done, i suggest viewing the parallel works at the Team Dai Gurren World (instead of searching youtubes)^^ Some explanations and "warnings" as well in there... I think Nehz' or Ace got a link?
And to join the rest... NIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ;_;

I have to admit, Gurren Lagann is pretty freakin' epic. I generally don't care for mecha anime but I still loved it.
Also, @Shin:
Konishi does do a great job with Kamina... But I still can't help but hear him as Kojirou, the main kendo instructor from Bamboo Blade (who he also voiced), sometimes. Which cracks me up every time.
The final battle had to be one of the most spectacular mecha fights I've ever witnessed. Yes, it was over the top, but what about Gurren Lagann -isn't- over the top? Everything about the series is summed up in the Code: Surpass the impossible and kick reason to the curb.
They kicked reason out of this dimension.
When I get to the point where I can actually catch hold of any of the DVDs, I'm grabbing them and never letting go. Srsly.

Anyway, yeah, the ending is a real tear-jerker, but the way I saw it, there really was nowhere else for anyone to go. Well, there was Nia, but I thought that was pretty well done, despite being incredibly sad. It fit the characters so well that you just know that's exactly what they all would have done after the series ended.
The final battle itself was an entirely different story, which awed me in its sheer ridiculous, desperate brand of coolness that defies every conceivable law of physics. Sure, trying to analyze just what was going on will bother the heck out of anyone, but physics need not apply if the results are awesome.
I really wish that the Dub's DVD set didn't end on episode 9. Every time I rewatch the first half, I end up watching the DVDs, depressing myself over Kamina again, and getting too lazy to watch the rest of the first season.
It's a bit of both, really. The ending is absolutely tear-jerking for me because I've actually become attached to a lot of characters in that series and the last episode is just... It's just very emotional, depending on the connections you make.
Overall, the series is absolutely wonderful. The pacing, the art, the characters, the story itself; it's all very good. It's very well-executed and I can see it becoming a classic in the future.
If you're a shounen/action fan or just a fan in general, it's definitely worth watching it. I'm thinking about watching it again just because. >.>;

Noooooes! No crying! *clings* Uhm, are they tears of pain or "omg, perfect! ;_;" ? I've seen so many heartbreaking shows lately that, if it were the latter reason, I'd be wary of watching Gurren (even though everyone's enthusiasm raked up my interest) ^^;

@Shinmaru:
I watched the sub online.
Kyle Hebert played Kamina in the dub? Weird. Oo;
And yes, Gome. NIAAAAAAAA, indeed.

Did you watch subs or the dubbed version?
Just asking because, as much as I enjoy Kyle Hebert, Katsuyuki Konishi is perfect as Kamina. Guy was born to play that role.
