Well, I'm gonna break away from the pack and risk being throttled: I kind of like that painting. I mean, I'm not about to petition to get it into a museum, or anything, but I don't think it's as crap-tastic as everyone else is saying.
That being said, I do think yours have more "oomph" to 'em, y'know? And as a writer who some day hopes to publish, I understand your creative frustration. Marketability makes creativity (and integrity) its bitch. :/
With a crappy show like that, be glad you didn't win. If I won in something like that I'd be ashamed. Your art has character in every single piece. You are uniquely awesome, remember that, Kat.

You're probably thinking this already, but seeing as how even the audience disagreed with the judging, you definitely shouldn't take the loss to heart. It's annoying, yeah, but at the end of the day, there are other contests out there that will be much more worth your time. :)
