Garage sales are comin' out the wazoo here too, trust me. I haven't gone to any yet though, 'cause I already have enough crap, I don't need to pay to get someone else's.
Also, as a former transfer student, I can tell you that most transfer students are feeling disoriented/upheaved/insecure enough that they don't really question the authority-status of the student giving them information. I didn't, anyhow.
