Don't you love naming inanimate objects?
Indeed, I've named a few things purely off color myself. Like my laptop is named Lycoris after a character in .hack//AI Buster. She wears a little red dress, my laptop is red... yeah. And then I named my silver iPod Aura (another .hack character) because... well, she's white and silver-ish.
I have thought of naming some of my inanimate objects, but never really came up with any good ideas. At one point, I had a couple names for my fishing poles, but that was to distinguish from one from the rest of the 10 or so that I have. The only thing I really named was my PS3, because of our network at home, for a while it was "KillStation 0," because I was playing a ton of Call of Duty at the time. It is now Kilo-Kai, named after a kind of spiced rum, but more so because of the bad ass sticker that the Kilo-Kai drink girls gave me. Said sticker now resides on the PS3.

Haha, I've always envied people who can come up with cool names for inanimate possessions. Mine never seem to stick. :P
