I agree on all these points! I just went on the DA as a means to expand my audience, however, theOtaku has always felt like a family which the DA rarely feels like :)

Thanks! Yeah, I guess it's all in how you want to use it. The other reason I'm on there is because some of my buddies from my comic club are on there.

You're right, and I'm glad you're getting some business. I don't do commissions on DA for a number of reasons, so I guess our reasons for being there are a bit different.

I liked reading this post!!! Great points and they are very true~ But for some reason, I've had lots of trouble coming back to theO :( I do miss a lot of things when I'm on DA.... it seems much more business-like. And obviously art theft happens everywhere, but it was upsetting for me to see when it was happening on theO among our friends. And our admin didn't do anything about it :( I hope things have improved in that area!
I really do hope to get back here tho, its great to see people still active here!

So true! I definitely feel like I can open up more here. It's like my home base, whereas DA is a secondary account. I joined DA so that I could do commissions, and I do like that DA has a category for literature.

I ment on DA for the cosplay pic's. People don't really seem to care about other's feelings or how hard they worked on the cosplay's it seems on DA.

I agree with every statement you made in this paragraph. TheO could use some improvements, but I still believe in it. I'm not abandoning this site unless it turns into DevaintART. Which I doubt it will.

Yeah, I have kind of a like/hate relationship with DA as well. I'd leave if it weren't for the fact that it's the only place where I have contact with certain people.

I noticed that too. not a lot of people have very nice or constructive criticism comments for cosplayers. they seem to just like to rip the cosplays apart and be complete jerks. I've had a DA account for about 2 or 3 years now and but I still don't really get on there all that much. I like here so much better.

I made a DA account not too long ago but I haven't felt the urge to really post any art or anything there. I post all of my stuff here cuz its so friendly (not to mention I've been here for 7+ years) and everybody IS more friendly here on theO.

The+ could use some improvements but its still one of the greatest sites around. I love it here and I'm not leaving, ever. :D

The only reason I still have a DA is because it's somewhere I can store my photography. Otherwise, I find that site a little annoying... and the people there are too.
