Persona goods from Japan: soundtracks, region locks, the P3 headphones and Japanese search terms

With the Persona 30th anniversary running in Japan, a lot of older Persona goods are cycling through the Japanese secondhand market: soundtracks and vinyl, Nendoroids and prize figures, cosplay pieces and used games. Some notes for anyone collecting from outside Japan.

Search in Japanese

Japanese listings are titled in Japanese, so these pull up far more on Mercari, Suruga-ya and Yahoo Auctions than English titles:

• ペルソナ (Persona), ペルソナ5 ザ・ロイヤル (P5 Royal), ペルソナ3 リロード (P3 Reload)
• ペルソナ フィギュア (figure), ねんどろいど (Nendoroid), 一番くじ (Ichiban Kuji)
• サウンドトラック or サントラ (soundtrack), レコード / LP (vinyl)
• 中古 (used), 未開封 (unopened)

Games: check the region and the language

• Nintendo 3DS (Persona Q, Q2) is region-locked: a Japanese cart only runs on a Japanese 3DS.
• PS Vita, PS4 and PS5 games are region-free, but language options vary by edition, so check the package or listing for English support before buying a Japanese copy.

Soundtracks and vinyl

Original Atlus soundtracks and vinyl are largely Japan-exclusive and often out of print. Suruga-ya is useful for out-of-print OST CDs and boxed sound collections because it grades used stock by condition; Mercari is where individual sellers list vinyl and limited soundtrack bundles. Records are heavy, so they are worth grouping with lighter goods into one parcel.

Figures and cosplay

Nendoroids of Joker and Aigis, scale figures, and prize figures from Kuji and Bandai lottery lines turn up on Mercari and Suruga-ya, including pieces that never reached Western shelves. For cosplay, Japanese platforms carry ACOS/Cospa-made costumes as well as secondhand handmade sets, and props like masks, gloves and badges can be picked up piece by piece.

The "Persona headphones"

Fans identify the Panasonic RP-HZ47 clip-on earphones as the closest real-world match to the headphones worn by the Persona 3 protagonist. It is an inexpensive Japanese-market audio product, which makes it an easy cosplay accessory to source from Amazon Japan or Mercari.

Shipping

International postage is charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so a box of vinyl and figures costs far more than a few CDs and badges. For US buyers, the $800 de minimis exemption no longer applies: since August 29, 2025, parcels of any value go through customs and pay applicable duties, taxes and fees.
