Collecting Hunter x Hunter goods from Japan: figures, Ichiban Kuji prizes, 1999-era posters and the
Since the 2026 manga return was announced, Hunter x Hunter goods have been moving fast on the Japanese secondhand market. A few notes for fans outside Japan who want figures or older promo items without paying Western resale prices.
Figures worth looking for
- Nendoroid 1183 (Gon) and 1184 (Killua), the Hunter Exam versions. Both are out of print at retail, so they turn up mainly secondhand; box condition moves the price a lot.
- MegaHouse G.E.M. 1/8 scale Gon and Killua, which pair as a set, plus G.E.M. Leorio, which is much harder to find outside Japan.
- Phantom Troupe pieces: prize figures of Chrollo and Illumi, and trading-figure sets with Feitan, Machi, Shalnark and Nobunaga. Loose singles on Suruga-ya are often easier than one complete set at auction.
Japan-only goods
- Ichiban Kuji lottery prizes. High tiers (A, B and Last One) usually reappear on Mercari within days of a release, and buying the exact prize secondhand is often cheaper than drawing tickets.
- J-World and Jump Shop goods: acrylic stands, can badges and pouches with event art.
- 1999 Nippon Animation-era promo posters (B2, 515 x 728 mm) and movie chirashi flyers. Phantom Rouge chirashi from 2013 are a low-cost way to start a paper collection.
Japanese terms that help when searching
- ハンターハンター or HUNTER×HUNTER, plus the character name in katakana: ゴン, キルア, クラピカ, ヒソカ, クロロ
- 一番くじ (Ichiban Kuji), ラストワン賞 (Last One prize), 幻影旅団 (Phantom Troupe)
- ポスター (poster), 非売品 (not for sale / promo), 未開封 (unopened), 箱傷み (box wear)
For older posters, check for the Nippon Animation copyright line, the B2 size and the paper and print quality in the photos before bidding. Ask the seller for close-ups when the listing is vague.
Shipping
International postage is charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so scale-figure boxes cost more than their weight suggests. Collecting several finds and shipping them together usually helps. For US buyers, the $800 de minimis exemption no longer applies: since August 29, 2025, parcels of any value go through customs and pay applicable duties, taxes and fees.
