Azone body size is not the same as clothing size
Azone body size is not the same as clothing size: a practical fit checklist
Japanese Azone listings can look straightforward until the measurements start overlapping. “1/6 scale,” “PureNeemo,” “Picco Neemo,” and “Obitsu-compatible” are useful search terms, but none of them guarantees that a particular outfit will fit a particular doll. The body generation, bust option, torso length, foot shape, and garment construction matter just as much as the advertised scale.
1. Identify the exact body before shopping for clothes
Azone has used several body families and revisions. Picco Neemo covers smaller dolls, while PureNeemo is commonly associated with 1/6-scale character and fashion dolls. Even within PureNeemo, body height and proportions vary. Save the doll’s complete product name, body type, and release information before comparing listings. If a second-hand seller only writes “Azone doll,” ask for a clear photo of the body and any markings.
2. Compare measurements, not only scale labels
Two dolls described as 1/6 scale can have different shoulder widths, busts, waists, hips, leg lengths, and foot sizes. A loose T-shirt may transfer easily while a fitted jacket or tailored dress does not. For pants, compare waist, hip, rise, inseam, and ankle opening. For long sleeves, check shoulder-to-wrist length rather than relying on the doll’s total height.
3. Treat bust options as a separate fit question
Some bodies are offered with different bust sizes, and fitted tops may be designed around one option. Stretch fabric gives more tolerance, but snaps, zippers, lining, and printed panels can reduce it. A garment closing in the back does not necessarily mean it will sit correctly at the shoulders or waist. Look for owner photos showing the same body type whenever possible.
4. Shoes need foot and ankle evidence
“Fits 1/6 dolls” is especially unreliable for shoes. Compare foot length and width, arch shape, ankle opening, and whether socks are expected. Boots add calf circumference and zipper clearance to the problem. If the listing includes an internal measurement, that is more useful than an outside sole measurement. Shoes photographed only on a stand or loose foot may not demonstrate secure fit on the complete doll.
5. Separate Azone clothing from third-party compatibility claims
An official Azone outfit normally identifies the intended body family more clearly than a generic marketplace title. Third-party sellers may list several brands to attract searches, even when fit is approximate. “Compatible” can mean wearable with adjustment, not a precise factory fit. Read the description for pins, clips, elastic, removable panels, or other accommodations used in the sample photos.
6. Check what is actually included
Japanese outfit sets often show a complete styled look while selling only selected pieces. Confirm whether shoes, socks, headwear, jewelry, bags, stands, hands, and the doll itself are included. Phrases such as `ドール本体は付属しません` mean the doll body is not included. `画像のものが全てです` means the pictured contents are the complete set, but the photos still need to be inspected carefully.
7. Record condition issues that affect fit
Stretched elastic, weak hook-and-loop tape, missing snaps, dye transfer, stains, and peeling synthetic leather can matter more than a small decorative flaw. Dark fabrics may pose a staining risk during long wear. Used shoes deserve close inspection around glued soles and faux-leather surfaces, which can deteriorate even when they have been stored rather than displayed.
The safest comparison sheet has one row for the exact doll body and separate columns for bust, waist, hip, foot length, garment measurements, included pieces, and condition. That makes it easier to reject a vague listing before price or rarity becomes distracting.
I adapted this checklist from OneMall’s Azone dolls and PureNeemo guide.
