It is not weird. That means that your skills have improved by much. And it maybe also that you had better mood to do it, because it was for her birthday. :D
Of course that this is better than the first one. I am sure that Hulaberry is very happy about it. :D
The improvement can be seen on every step, but mostly in shading.^^
