Well one thing you gotta remember is that the movie was based off the COMIC which is probably loosely (at best) based off your...religion? So (and I use that word a lot as well) you shouldn't be too surprised they botch small stuff like that up. They (Hollywood, directors, etc.) do that a lot. Maybe too often!
