Wow, seems like you have lots of experience! If you mean Princess Mononoke (or Mononoke Hime in Japanese), then I've already watched it more than twenty times. Miyazaki is great in my opinion-and yeah, I would think that Ashitaka has some issues. But then again, there may be another anime called Mononoke and I'm just too lazy to google it ^^
In the mean time I started watching Aoi Bungaku... THAT's some emotionally unstable stuff.
Will look into animes mentioned once I get time in my crammed to-catch-up-on anime list ^^
