eh, I'm pushing myself to do more, but backgrounds aren't my favorite things to do, they require time! That being said they can make a draw 100% better if you pull it off!
absolutely! they're a life saver, beside I think with pencils you can create more effect and textures that with markers only! (beside they and be erased and when you fail a lot like me that's important!)
