The tune of the Rurouni Kenshin opening was really catchy, though you were right that the lyrics didn't really fit the show that well. You can't really blame the English translators, though, because it really was what the original Japanese lyrics sang about.
And yet, this is the opening that defined Rurouni Kenshin for me. At least Heart of Sword was a wonderful yet appropriate ending song for the series.
Nnoooooooooooooooooo!! My ears are melting! I'm going freakin deafer! Why oh why did they pair that opening with rurouni kenshin! My poor favourite anime next to hellsing.
After being reminded of this, I no longer want to live on this planet anymore...

(The one from Rozen Maiden seems pretty bad, too, though...)
