    @moletta:

    And here I figured my support was a given. =)

    I appreciate your directness, though. I prefer it to sitting silent for ages until the wrong word blows something completely to hell—and it allows me the chance to backpedal, which is always nice. =P

    And I have to admit, "reset diet" sounds a heap-sight better than "starvation diet", and makes a great deal more sense. I also assume the push is towards the grilling side of preparations, since it's much easier for the juices to drain out and not leave you with messes of grease.

    If you get a chance, ask about crock-pot meals, see what kind of response you get. Very low labor-intensive on the preparation, generally quite cheap, and most of the cooking gets done while you're at work. Plus, avoiding the prepackaged stuff fits in real well with it.

    Good luck! :D

    It's good that you consulted with your doctor, too.

    @Allamorph:

    then it's good that I'm not going into the Navy.

    As for the fruit juices, unless you juice it yourself, or are ridiculously careful in your choices they are full of processed sugars or preservatives. It's a reset mostly, going to non processed diet. All meals are self made from raw foods. There's nothing packages. You can choose proteins and bake or grill them, and you can steam or grill veggies that are on the list if you don't want them raw.

    I'm trying really hard to think you're being supportive in your own way and not being backhanded. It's a huge step and I haven't undertaken it lightly. I'm under the monitoring eye of a physician and a dietician as I go.

    I'd say just stick with water. I'm trying to get used to the same myself right now—in fact I generally have two or three half-full cups sitting around the house in convenient locations—because per the Navy that's all I'll really be allowed.

    Not sure why you can't have fruit juices, but whatevs.

    (Also the Navy discourages the use of starvation diets because they are almost always a temporary solution, and rarely have permanent effects.)

    Well it's good you discussed with your doctor about it first. I wish you luck! As a fellow overweight person, I hope this works for you.
