With time and distance between that conversation, I have to agree. But in the moment, with everything else that had been snowballing, it didn't feel like it. If I can't room with friends, I might look into it, should finances allow for next year.
To be fair, I was kinda miffed when I wrote that post. Vent time is a dumb time to write posts. And yeah, I get what you and DA mean; I have had a lot of roommate issues, and she pointed out that even if I room with people I know, there's zero guarantee we'll still get along.
I don't think your counselor told you to get a single room because they were saying it's your fault you've had bad roommates-quite the opposite. They're just saying to avoid it, it might be easier to not have roommates since you never know what kind of roommate you'll get.
From what you've told me, I'm sure it's not your fault. You were just thrown into several unfortunate situations by chance. Maybe they suggested you get a single room to avoid all that.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!
