While affixed to a cloth, cotton patches could be cleaned carefully with immense gentleness as the strands are fragile. If you really need to launder clothing having patches on it, it is recommended to manually wash it to avoid catching patch strands. If you really must machine launder the clothing, make sure it is turned inside out and any fasteners, hangers, or other objects that might catch the patched strings are secured or closed.
