News: Batman Year One Film

After "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights", get ready for the next installment of the "DC Universe Animated Original Movie" series, which will be "Batman: Year One". The movie itself is no remake of "Batman Begins" as it will be an adaptation of the comic book storyarc "Batman: Year One", written by Frank Miller (creator of "300" and "Sin City") and featured in "Batman" Vol. 1 No. 404-407. It is scheduled for release on Oct. 18, 2011 and will star Ben McKenzie (who played Ryan Atwood for the 2003 T.V. series "The O.C.) as the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman with Bryan Cranston (Hal on "Malcolm in The Middle") playing the voice of Lt. James Gordon, Eliza Dushku (Faith on "Buffy The Vampire Slyer" and "Angel") playing the voice of Selina Klyle/Catwoman, Katee Sackhoff (Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on Ron Moore's "Battlestar Galactica") voicing Detective Sarah Essen, and Alex Rocco (Mon Greene in 1972's "The Godfather") voicing Gotham City crime lord Carmine Falcone.

This will be the first PG-13-rated installment of the "DC Universe Animated Original Movie" series since "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse" (2010). Additionally, DC Universe fan-site The World Finest indicates that the "Batman: Year One" Blu-ray Combo Disc will include as a bonus feature, a 15-minute short called "Catwoman", which like the movie itself, will have Eliza Dushku voicing Selina Kyle.
