YES, yes, Rishi KNOWS this is cliche to the max, but Hani is different. Because Hani is little in the story, and never really gets over the abuse she suffered.
Hani met Neji one day when she was walking around town. Neji, noticing her cuts and bruses, asked her where she lived. Hani immediatly started to run, yelling that 'Hani is sorry! Hani is sorry! Hani is a good girl!' Neji, being ninja-y, was able to track her down to a house at the edge of town, where Hani entered and encountered an old man--her grandfather, Neji figured--who smacked her.
Upon nightfall, Neji stole Hani from her room. Hani was clutching a small rag doll, whom she called Hana. There's much more to the story, but Rishi's too lazy to write it all--wait for Rishi's fanfiction, Hope. (Name subject to major changes)

She's a six year old who does not understand the world--her mother, father and older sister all died when Hani was three in a fire, while they tried rescuing her but died in the process, causing her to land in the hands of her grandfather, who blamed her for their deaths.
