Selena's War Stories & Interviews

This is a double-entendre type of deal here.
This is both an interview of Selena for the OC Poll & Countdown as well as an interview in the context of the story that she's in.
I'll write it like the previous "Interview" post where I introduced my characters but instead of me asking the questions, it'll be another character.

Hope you enjoy:

Selena enters Katherine's office in her flight uniform, again with the sleeves being wrapped around her waist.

"Selena Singleton; ID-871520" she states to her Captain who records that on the interview paperwork.

Katherine: Ok, Singleton, let's get this interview stared ok. First I'd like to ask what you believe your strengths and weaknesses are.

-I'd say that my strengths are of the physical and technical variety. In my personal life I am very passionate about weightlifting, to the point where I've developed a reputation amongst my peers and even have a few records. I also got accepted to the Phantom Privateers troupe after I presented the Captain with a variety of my own hand-built ships.-

Katherine: I knew you'd bring that up. Jeez. But what about the weaknesses?

-I've noticed that I don't talk to a lot of people. I've flown out with people that have said that I'm scary or cold...Maybe that is a bit true. I'm not super bubbly and that kind of turns people away.

Katherine: Next question, what qualities make a good friend?

-A good friend is a person who respects your goals, your aspirations, your limitations, and understands you as a person.

Katherine: Explain. I need some details here.

-My best friends and I have this weird connection to where we don't need to verbalize ourselves, we can just feel what each other is thinking. I don't know what else to call it.

Katherine: Okay. Is there anything else you want to say?

-(under breath) What is this for? (clears throat) I'd just like to...No, correction, never mind.

Katherine: Don't be so damn nervous. Next question; what lengths would you go to ensure victory?

-Anything specific?

Katherine: No.

-Well personally I try to stray away from any moral issues. If it involves a question of right-or-wrong I usually would slow down and request advice from my superiors. I don't like to play the arbiter of morality or justice. I just do what needs to be done.

Katherine: Okay. What would you say was your most intense experience in your work here?

-Definitely the Heisel Job. Myself along with 2 other divisions of pirates were sent to Sector 21 after the Phantom Privateers were contracted by billionaire arms dealer Zomenini Heisel to assist in an assault on a local warlord. That warlord, known only as Zaszar, somehow paid for over 240,000 blanks ("blanks" is just a word for currency like "dollars") worth of arms that someone stole from Heisel.

The space raid alone took 3 days to penetrate their shields and their anti-invasive defensive fields. Thankfully none of my division was lost in combat but several of us got separated and crashed all around the Drop Zone. I personally came into contact with Zaszar--um...I found out that he was...

Katherine: (nods in agreement) Take a second...Go on (tear falls).

-Found out that Zaszar was using child soldiers. Some of them didn't make it out of the raid alive. At that point it wasn't the fatigue or the lack of food or the fear of death that caught me...It was seeing something so vile happen.

Katherine: Okay these questions are a bit weird, but is there any person that you are personally attached to?

-Um, no, not really.
Katherine: (looks up) You hesitated, why?

-(Looks away) I'm not like in love with anyone or anything like that...But there are some people...(cough) someone...(cough) a person that I consider like family and I try to look after them as much as I can. If something happened to this person I'd be really upset.

Katherine: Do you have any large aspirations? A certain job or accomplishment you're vying for?

-Personally I do not have any crazy dreams. I enjoy travelling to different parts of this vast thing we call a multiverse, that is very exciting. But no, I'm not out here to be some Space Commander or be a millionaire or something. If it happened to me I'd be rather...shocked to be honest.

Katherine: Good looking and modest, that's an honest combination that you rarely find in our line of work.

-(chuckle) I've often been told that I'm quote, "Too good looking to be a pirate."

Katherine: Ok. Final question, what do you believe your definite reason for being accepted is?

-I don't believe I'm making a crazy claim when I say that I'm a hard worker, I'm very diligent and I have a reputation of, for lack of a better term, "getting shit done." This is just a step into the door to me, and once I get the rest of the way in I would like to use my previous accolades to propel me forward.

Katherine: (Finishes writing) Alright, that's about it. Anything else for the record?

-None from me, no.

Katherine: (Stamps paper) Okay, sign here and then we're done.

-(Signs and gets up) Thank you, Captain.

Katherine: (Leans back in her chair and kicks her feet up) Singleton!

-Yes, Captain?

Katherine: (Tosses keys to the Vinegaroon) A special favor from me. Just don't experiment with it.

-(Salutes) Ma'am, will that be all?

Katherine: (sighs and salutes back) That'll do, Selena. Have fun out there.
