Academia loves its formal language, which tends to carry-over into the public sphere as well. (Aahhh, "public sphere"! I've become infected as well...sigh.) If anything, be comforted that most of those big-brains tend to be stuck in theoryland, where everything makes sense when you're armed with--Theory!
Huh, I've been listening to Shiina Ringo lately, and I've remembered how much I like her music.
I'm in an intro CHJA lit class (required for the Chinese or Japanese major), and the makeup is similar--almost entirely seniors, with the occasional cowed-looking freshman or sophomore. It makes me look back bemusedly on my days of being extremely intellectually intimidated by seniors (one of the freshman put on a weak smile and called us "terrifying" on the first day): now I think, "Well, jeez, it was just people like me all along." Someday you'll be there. And it will be fun. :3
That song actually was from the mid-90s... either from '95 or '96. I used to be such a L'Arc fangirl when I was in middle school. I even went to their Otakon concert way back when and got splashed by hyde's water bottle. ^^;;
I think they all got what I said, but were just incredulous that I said something so unfunny, lol. One of my friends in particular won't ever let me live that down. >_>;;
Hehe, thanks. It's only a 200-level PoliSci class, but for some reason, there are tons of seniors in it. Probably because they keep scaring away most of the underclassmen who try to take it. ^^;;

LOL, I always feel like an ass after having an awkward conversation with someone. Usually I am pretty good at keeping on my toes and not letting some of the less witty things I think up leave my mouth, but it happens every once in a while, and I always sound like a retard when it does.
Oh, Hyde. He's so hot...even with the bad lipstick, lol. Definitely Cure inspirations! Yup!! X3 When was that song from? It reminds me of some mid-90's songs by...Savage Garden, hehe!! I used to love them. Gah...anyhoo, I really like that song.
