I felt the same way. XD But that wasn't as bad as Code Geass is getting me. It's not like Shirley's death wasn't expected, but they threw it in at a time no one really expected.
The only anime that made me cry was Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino-. Pino's life sucked, then everything started going great for him, but then he had to die. Il Teatrino, though, really knows how to push your emotional buttons.

Yeah, I can be sad, but rarely ever cry about it.
