Haha nice! All this talk of braces is reminding me off all the weird stuff I did because of it. Like the time we got pizza and I couldn't bite it because of my braces. So I ate it with a fork and knife.
Well when you first get them, at first they won't hurt at all, then an hour afterwards...Well, when I got them I actually called in sick from school because it hurt. You have to take stuff like Tylenol to ease the pain. It shouldn't last too long though. But you won't be able to chew any kind of food. I had to survive on yogurt, pudding, and mashed bananas for about a week.
After that, the only real pain you get is from when they tighten it. and that's only for a few days, maybe a week.

I had braces for nearly three years. And I'm still wearing a retainer and I have a permanent one on my bottom teeth. I can answer your questions if ya want :3
