I'm also not a fan of the typical "Princess in a Castle" or "Damsel in Infinite Klutz Moment" because as a woman raised by a woman, I know that we're capable of kicking lots of ass and going the distance in a lot of different fields, superheroing (to meet my allotted made-up word count for the day) included.
But yes, Marvel is pretty stupid. Though I have to love them for Deadpool, if nothing else.

And people wonder why tv shows and movies here keep sliding further into Smut-Ville while good story-telling gets left by the wayside. If only society would step up by not buying into this crap the trend would change. Alas, that's not happening. And now Marvel's undermining the integrity of their own characters to follow the same "sex sells" business plan. *sigh*

Seriously, this is partly why I like reading shoujo. It's still ridiculous most of the time, but at least the girls aren't carrying around huge breasticles on their chest or panty-flashing constantly. No, all the fanservice duties get heaped onto the guys for a change! 8D
