Nana so agrees. Forward means down. It's the same with flight sims.
When Nana first started to play Halo, she had so switch her control setting. So sniper bait is right. Once things got fixed, she finally became the sniper.

You took the words out of my mind. Y-axis is unnatural and weirds me out too. It should definitely be an option and not default.

    Alla's world is everyone's world.

I have the same issue when it comes to FPS games. I don't play many, but when I actually do, it has to be inverted. It just feels right.

    Remember, we're watching you.

Yay! ^_^ So you take tips huh? And music is your emotion? Hmmmm.... lets see... Here's my tip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEIURTJKek0 Such a nice pretty song and such a fun game. ^_^

Anyway, sounds like you've been having fun. I don't have any games where their is an issue of pulling back to look up. :p But then I tend to read far more than I ever play video games. Heh.

Well I'm off! See ya around and I'm glad you made a world.

Technically I made two, but the other one's not open for business yet. Content and layout have to go up at the same time, so it'll happen when it happens.

Hehe, creeping out Crystia. I would have loved to see that. :p I never get her music tastes right, other than they don't coincide with anything I like at all. Usually. XP

Hmmm. I don't play enough games to even run into what you are talking about, however, it makes sense one pulls back to look up instead of the other way around.

Anyway, as others have said... it's about time you had a world/blog.

Well it is creepy! I mean… what was it, after a few songs… every single one after that was one I liked? Creepy! And now I have to get several Nightwish albums, starting with Once. >_> Not that I’m complaining mind you. It’s got quite a few songs on it that I like. But the landscape? I wish I knew how you manage to do that one.

Hmmm, I don’t play enough games where that is an issue, pulling back to look up. Though it makes sense.

Anyway… it’s about time you made a world Allamorph. :p

If I'm using a mouse I tend to not invert the y-axis. I did start out playing Quake II (the first game I played with mouse look) with it inverted but then switched when I started playing PlanetSide because uninverted started feeling more intuitive. But if I'm using a joystick, like for a console game, I always invert the y-axis.

On the other hand, I had my controls set to invert the y-axis whenever I was flying an aircraft in PlanetSide. So I'd switch between uninverted while aiming and inverted while flying.

As for the actual reason for not inverting while aiming with a mouse, I think it's because a lot of people don't think of it as pulling their head/gun back to aim up but rather moving the crosshair up in the same way they'd move the mouse cursor. Like Dagger mentioned, people are used to that from doing other things on the PC so moving the crosshair in the same way feels more natural.

Creeping Indi out? Why do I always miss out on the good stuff? XD That explains why earlier she said getting some new Nightwish albums was your fault. lol I have to admit some of the songs she listed to the Once album… I went to you tube and checked them out and liked them as well. :p Good stuff.

Heh, yeah, games always throw me off with that, I end up looking at my characters feet instead… so annoying. Also… ZOMG! You finally created a world! ^_^ And now, I’m going to pester Crystia as to just what landscape visions you pinned down… though with the new SD post, I’m thinking that’s what you nailed. :p

In the name of the tune I will punish you!

'Bout damn time you made a world, yo.

It's funny for me, because I grew up with the "X-Wing" series of space-flight sims, so I've had an inverted Y-axis ingrained into my mind.

Then one day when we got Unreal Tournament I found out that my brother was playing with a non-inverted mouse-look "because that's how he played it at his friend's house." So every time we played we'd always be switching back and forth from the other guy's settings - eventually I got tired of that very minor thing and just decided to force myself to learn uninverted.

I still have to play inverted with a joystick, though. So consoles are always forward=down. That's where I draw the line.

Heheheh. Back when I played Unreal, I always had it non-inverted. I think that came naturally to me because I wasn't so much thinking of the field of sight as I was of the motion of the gun. If I wanted to aim higher, I pushed forward... which would partly be force of habit from doing the same thing to reach higher parts of the screen in other applications. Screwing around in Photoshop, frex. If I want to erase the upper part of an image, I push forward; if I wanted to shoot someone standing at the top of a staircase, same thing.

My harder-core friends tended to go for inverted, though, so there you have it.

    And music is my emotion.

    A sentiment I share.

Yeah, whenever I play games (which is rare) I always hate it when the controls are contrary to my natural instincts of movement.
