It’s the same for me; I’m only taking a few classes for the summer so my spare time has been spent doing things with friends and watching shows like Doctor Who. ^_^ So there’s not a lot of things to talk about.

Hehe. Like a few others, I got hit by the Spring madness bug and cleaned out my room so everything is nice and tidy. It helps that being away from home for college means that I don’t have a lot with me. So it’s a lot easier to do than it was when I lived at home.

Wow… o_O That’s a lot of errors for someone who is supposed to know more. That’s kind of sad really. I mean you’d think someone like that would know a lot more and wouldn’t have such an odd view about information being distributed.

I hope your mom gets her masters too. ^_^

Sounds like whoever is supposed to be helping you at the staffing agency doesn’t know what they are doing. ^^

Anyway, I agree with the last statement, what’s the point in looking good if you aren’t smart and competent? Unless you’re a blonde in which case you have to… *shot* Hehe.

Heh, I know the feeling, I never know what to post about, which is why I just about never post. Also, you remind me that I should clean up my room. It’s not terribly messy, but it’s not very organized at the moment either. XP

Considering the comments, I’d be concerned about that author’s competence as well. That’s pretty sad actually along with the general topic for the section about so called concern over the distribution of information. *snort* Are we sure he’s not one of those old women who work around a plethora of information that they are “afraid of” (as you put it) in disguise? :p

Sounds like you need to whack someone upside the head to get things done right for your job hunting endeavors.

I stand corrected. I hadn't realized that he was a Philosophy major. That changes everything. :p

    @Indi:

Oh I don’t know about the grammar errors and all since it seems to be something you run into more and more these days.

    Food for thought:

Richard Rubin (the author) is Associate Professor at the School or Library and Information Science at Kent State University, in Kent, Ohio. He has taught Foundations courses for nearly ten years. [Means he's a sot.] He received his A.B. in Philosophy [oh, that explains it] from Oberlin College, his M.L.S. from Kent State, and his Ph.D from the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois.

This means to me that he has absolutely no excuse to have written an entire book riddled with typos and grammatical flaws and filled with high-school-esque essay B.S.

But he's a Philosophy major. So he's automatically a twit.

I wish I could say the same since I have lots of silly drama going on in my life right now. Nothing major, but enough to make me glad I’m an adult and don’t live with certain relatives… Anyway…

I went through this massive spring cleaning blitz and rearranged not only my room but other parts of the house. >_> I’m still not done and I have lots of junk I really should just toss out. It’s amazing how easily things pile up over the years, only to collect dust.

Wait, let me get this right… we view information with trepidation and fear? *wonders when that happened* :p

Allamorph… you are the mastermind! That and many staffing agencies are experts and messing things up, seriously.

Something to ramble about when it seems that you’ve done just fine already? :p I’ll just end with agreeing that being competent makes looking sexy pale in comparison.

In the name of the tune I will punish you!

This is a test, please do not… *shot* Had to do that, I’m sure you understand. :p

Ironically, I got the urge to rearrange my room completely a while ago so mine is nice and clean and the new layout is nice since I was tired of how things were set up. I’m not much of a packrat though since I don’t have the room for it.

Oh I don’t know about the grammar errors and all since it seems to be something you run into more and more these days. Look at how far I’ve gotten and yet I still have issues, only I’m smart enough to get help from someone who knows what they are doing before I hand important stuff in.

Good luck to your mother though; the world needs more people who understand the evil that hides behind the mask of pretending to be English! Also, information that people are afraid of… *laughs*

Naturally, doing things that way would be logical and we just can’t have that. Seriously, you’ll put all those people at the staffing agency out of a job. :p

Something to ramble about… you could have mentioned a bit about that odd dream you told me about the other day. I can’t really talk about my last few since that would spoil things for you SD crew, including you.

As for the other, since I don’t follow that show… Meh. Though I do agree that Sigourney Weaver would have been an excellent choice if possible… pity.

And yes, being competent wins over looking sexy any day any time. Always.

My fingers itch whenever I see grammar/spelling errors and I'm Swedish! xD Would you be surprised to know my native language skills are verging on the edge of poor? Seems like English is taking over my brain o.O

Yay for your mom being super awesome and highlighting the mistakes. That just makes me beam with glee ^___^

Sigourney Weaver really would have been a great choice back in the day. Of course, the years when she would have been a good age for it were years lacking the proper technology for decent special effects. Not that trading CG for proper acting skills is worth it...

I've never been one to have a cluttered room. I tend to go through all my stuff about once a month and weed out things I don't need or feel others could benefit more from. Call me bizarre, but I find it relaxing. Who'da thunk it?

My brother's a clerk at the local library, and boy howdy can he tell stories about incompetence in workmates. Most of our experienced librarians are decent and knowledgeable people, but some of the strangest things you've ever heard of go on in that library. He plans to write a series of children's books based on his years there, centering around two best friends, Cricket and Spud, who spend most of their summer vacations in the library. All the characters are (with permission) parodies of his co-workers, including supervisors. My sister will be illustrating it. My role - probably editor. Oh what fun.

Hope your mom progresses well with her masters. It really can be disturbing when educational books seem to have been written without much professionalism or care. Makes you think you could do it better, eh, Mastermind?

I'm commenting on everything right after Timechaser tonight.

That book sounds lame. I think your mom should point these things out to the profs and make a point about that. Hopefully that won't lead to some kind of secret cover-up where they then tell her to "stop looking into this." Totally wish her all the luck, though.

Is it completely against the hiring place's policy to go there in person or anything? Along with actually seeing people face to face, it also shows your actual interest in wanting the job to actively make your way in and all. Otherwise maybe just try to call the club directly (again, unless that's against the hiring place's policy).

Finally, I haven't really thought too much about the GitS movie. I agree that a young Sigourney Weaver would have kicked ass, though. Ahh . . . where did all the badass Weavers and Hamiltons go?

Finally . . . I want to hear your dissertation on how the universe would have been irrevocably changed had Bail Organa adopted Luke and Obi-Wan Kenobi had brought Leia to the Lars homestead.

I dread when I finally getting around to clearing out my room, because it's not just going to be cleaning, it'll have to be moving stuff out and figuring out how to store it all, plus the dusting job from hell.

Blah, I hate phones. Phone tag is evil.

Ugh, I hate it when phone-tag begins, because it never, ever ends well. Job offerings or with friends; it just doesn't work.

I'm rooting for your mom. Librarians need to be someone you can rely on, not an old cat-lady who sits there reading Danielle Steele and thinks she's the greates thing to happen to the library since the card catalogue. In fact, women need to be seen as more competent, period. You can be female and excellent in your field of work/study without being a bitch about it. Yeesh.

I need to clean out my room too... but I'm afraid it might bite me. Parents are starting to threaten though. -.-'
