So, apologies to Sangome, whom I left hanging today when my internet was abruptly stopped. I tried to get back on for a solid thirty minutes, then got fed up and left to go play SSBM with some people. Didn't get back until about one-thirty in the morning because the nut who owns the system is completely obsessed with Euchre, and there was also a pointless trip to Wal-Mart in there somewhere.
So I rescued a little cat today . . . from the Bursar's office. Some staff person had apparently fed the emaciated little girl some yogurt, and the cat just stuck around and explored the entire office. I happened to be passing by when someone remarked that they weren't a cat person, and of course I reacted with "I am," which basically sealed my fate.
I managed to find an old professor who happened to know of someone looking for a new pet cat, so that was a relief. Cats seem to flock to our family, and now is not a good time for a new friend.
So it's three thirty now, and I'm a little aggravated because I haven't been able to get a visual from any of the prompts since the last one I responded to. I dunno what it is. Maybe if I sit and think for a while tomorrow, something will happen. At the very least, I have nothing pressing until Sunday, so I can afford to indulge myself.
I also may have a question to ask of you guys here soon. We'll see how things work out with my ingenuity.
Pants.
Permanently.
But those of you who interact with me regularly already know this.
So, I actually like the chat feature. I think it's a great community endeavor, since otherwise I'd never have gotten to know Jae or timechaser (who really should get his name capitalized sometime) or basically anyone who doesn't live in Utah.
Except for Kimmeh. 'Cause she found me, instead of the other way around. (Pounced on me, really. Rather a surprising display of internet-affection. =P)
Also, without the chat, I'd never be able to scare all the tiny people when I get too serious or too . . . well, nuts, I suppose. I mean, in two successive entrances I first quoted everyone's ears off with Monty Python, and then got into a detailed examination of taxes which ended with a small friendly discussion with Adam of all people.
Speaking of random:

George is a strange animal. He likes to dissolve on his sleeping surfaces.
Other than that, today was largely spent marathoning Stargate SG-1 and Burn Notice, then voting. And I do not approve of connotational slants on ballot choices. "For" and "Against" are obviously leading you towards the former answer; I should look into who designs the ballots for our system.
"It is time to separate the men from the rest of the men who aren't as manly."
Alright, so I went and got me-self a good camera today, and now all you people who squawked for doggie-pictures will be appeased, neh? =P
Name is Rocco (courtesy of my sisters), and he's very good with cars.
Someone was making dinner.
Contempt? or bright flash?
Just finished his walk.
However, I can't let that go without showing off the rest of the crew. They're my people, after all, and despite him being a Corgi I doubt I'll be able to feel as much for him as them. If he were a big dog, maybe, but that's beside the point. So here's the three currently in residence.
Buster, also known as the Old Man. We got him less than six months after we moved here, which would be about late '98, and he was about three then. Probably the politest cat ever—he'll pat your leg and look inquiringly at you when he wants your lap, and his miaow is nonexistent unless he's trapped on the wrong side of a door—and yet he ruled the neighborhood with an iron paw. He'd come home some nights with a torn ear or something superficial, and I'd go out biking and find some other cat looking like it just came out of the M*A*S*H ward.
(Also the best picture I think I took today.)
George, one of the orange triplets; he swapped out with his brother about three weeks ago, and we expect Lucky to return sometime or other. George is a little skittish, but he's a sweetheart, and once he gets over the instant "it's gonna kill me" reaction, he'll practically melt onto your leg. Very pleasant miaow.
Shadow, the queen and my feline adorer. She will literally perk up at my mere presence in the room, and if she sees me sit down she makes a beeline for my leg. Mom? Dad? Nah. Any of the sisters? O hai, I has a sleepy nao; go 'way. Me? Instant hug.
And yes, that is my real leg. I am corporeal after all.
Okay, so, this is me being geeky. And yeah, I've had this discussion with my father and NightBeck already, but I still want to toss it out there.
So, Batman.
After I watched the movie—and got over how amazing Christian Bale does Bruce Wayne—and after I'd seen the trailer for Dark Knight (TWO DAYS LEFT!!!) last fall, I got to thinkin'. Sure, Bale is amazing, and Ledger looks like he rocked, bless him, but they pulled Michael Cain as the best Alfred ever, Liam Neeson as Henri Ducard / Ra's Al Ghul, and Morgan Freeman as basically himself or God or whoever he supposedly embodies. And they're supposed to be redoing the entire franchise, right? So I can't help but wonder....
...who's going to play the Penguin?
Who get's Two-Face? the Riddler? Mr. Freeze?
Mother of God, who becomes Catwoman, or Ivy, or (ah-hope, ah-hope, ah-hope) Harlequin? (Bane they'll probably just cast as some WWF superstar with a mask over his head.)
With the caliber of people already involved, I seriously hope the casting department moves heaven and earth to figure out the people who'll make this redux a zinger. But I'm not slavishly involved in Hollywood, so my head's not totally in the game.
Anybody care to shoot me some names?
Edit: Come to think of it, since Joker's actor unfortunately died, the circumstance provides a great scene-entrance for Harlequin. But that's a bit dark of me.
