Fifth Spark:
[Next day]
Dia: Eduardo! Eduardo!
Eduardo: What on earth-
Dia: I need your help! [holding the cat]
Eduardo: I told you, I’m not helping-
Dia: A name!
Eduardo: What…?
Dia: I’m trying to choose a name for this lil’ guy! I have some in mind, but I’m not sure which one I like best.
Eduardo: … [pinches the bridge of his nose] [irritated] What do you have in mind?
Dia: [smiles] Okay! So I have Ventus, Shadow, Eddie or Rick.
Eduardo: What was that third one?
Dia: Eddie! [^o^]
Eduardo: Why Eddie?
Dia: His eyes are like yours! One’s hazel, the other’s a reddish-orange. [holds up the cat for him to take] See?
Eduardo: … [looks away, shy] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dia: [smiling] So which do you like best?
Eduardo: Hm. Shadow or… [mumbles] Eddie…
Dia: [beaming] Eddie it is! [runs off, shouting Russell and Thomas’ names]
~*~
Russell: Eddie…
Dia: Yep! A name makes it more appealing to potential owners because it gives it more of a personality.
Thomas: But why Eddie?
Dia: [snuggling the cat by her face] ‘Cause it was cute…
Russell: I can’t believe Cap let you keep that thing.
Dia: I can’t really keep it; I have to find a home for it at the next port. [sighs] Which really sucks because he’s sooooooo cuteeeeee….
Thomas: [smiles] You really like that cat, don’t you?
Dia: Of course! It’s a natural instinct for a girl to like cute things, especially tiny young animals like a kitten. [snuggles it] Sho kewt~ <3
[Russell and Thomas suddenly back away slowly in fright]
Dia: What are you guys doing- HEY! [Eduardo snatches the kitten up]
Eduardo: Enough messing around. You have work to do. [walks away with the cat in hand]
Dia: Oh no! Eddie!
Eduardo: Work or this thing goes to the sharks.
Dia: TToTT Nooooo!!!
~*~
Dia: [walking into the navigation room after finishing her work] E-Eduardo? [gulps] Is Eddie- [she stops walking in when she sees Eduardo setting a small bowl of milk in front of the cat. Quietly, she sneaks up behind him and covers his eyes with her hands.]
Dia: Guess who~!
Eduardo: Let’s see… [smiling] Dia?
Dia: [smiles back] Too easy, huh? [sits down next to him] So you really do have a heart.
Eduardo: It looked thirsty and you’d yell at me if I didn’t take care of it.
Dia: [scratching the cat’s ears] Am I that scary?
Eduardo: Not scary. Annoying.
Dia: Aw, you’re so mean! [playfully smacks him on the arm]
[Eduardo roughly takes her wrists and pins her to the floor]
Eduardo: [sadistic smile] Mean? I can me much more than that, you know.
Dia: Wha- How did you move so fast?!
Eduardo: You should react faster. [kisses her neck]
Dia: Mmmmmng… I… thought you weren’t interested in a kid like me.
Eduardo: I’m beginning to rethink that. [kisses her forehead and smoothes her bangs back] You are really different, after all. [stands up and extends his hand] Come on, we’re going to miss dinner.
Dia: [takes it] You’re like a hurricane…
~*~
[As they are walking…]
Eduardo: A hurricane?
Dia: [sighs and lifts up her arms in an exasperated manner] One minute you threaten to kill me, [thinking] the next you act really sexy, [speaking] the next kind and sweet, and yet the next you act like a prince only to revert back to your usual sadistic and cold-blooded self. It’s hard to keep up sometimes.
Eduardo: In other words, you’re saying I’m bipolar.
Dia: Not bipolar, persay. More like… you have epic mood swings.
Eduardo: … You’re really something…
Dia: Uh, not that I mind or anything but do you really plan on holding my hand for everyone to see?
Eduardo: If anyone asks, you fell and grabbed my hand to get up.
Dia: … [glomps him] White Eduardo~!
Eduardo: Hey! Let go of me!
Dia: N~nope! And by the way, you’re being Black Eduardo right now. Not very cute.
Eduardo: You’re annoying.
Dia: You’re grumpy.
Eduardo: Loud.
Dia: Sadistic.
Eduardo: Childish.
Dia: Randomly perverted.
Eduardo: [whispers in her ear with a wicked smile] Virgin.
Dia: Taboo word!
Eduardo: Don’t yell like that.
Dia: Sorry… [lets go of him and hugs his arm]
Eduardo: Stop clinging to me so much.
Dia: Why?
Eduardo: [holds his gun to her head] OFF.
Dia: [let’s go] Sorry!!!
Eduardo: You need to be disciplined more. [backs her up against a wall with another evil smile]
Dia: Meep!
Eduardo: How should I punish you tonight?
Dia: [frightened, trembling] H-How…?
Eduardo: [leans closer] There are various methods, of course. Perhaps I’ll let you choose.
[Dia, scared stiff, says nothing. Thankfully, Nathan happens to be walking by and pushes Eduardo away from her]
Nathan: Eduardo, chill. You’re freaking her out.
Dia: [thinking] WHEN DOESN’T HE?
Eduardo: Hmph. She needs a backbone.
Dia: You need to be nicer!
Eduardo: [cocks his gun] Oh?
Dia: D’8 I miss White Eduardo…
Nathan: You traumatized her and now she’s saying nonsense.
Eduardo: Tch. She’s fine. She has this notion that I have a kind side to me and she’s dubbed that “White Eduardo”.
Dia: >’8 White Eduardo… SHOOT!!! [runs out]
Eduardo and Nathan: …
Dia: [runs back into the hallway holding the cat] Nathan! You haven’t met this guy yet, have you? [lifts him up] Meet Eddie!
Nathan: [pointing] Is that a cat?
Dia: Yep! [smiles] Captain said I could keep it-!
Eduardo: ‘Till the next port.
Dia: >3< So mean!
Eduardo: It’s the truth.
Nathan: A cat… [smirks] Good thinking. Thomas’s been saying that there are some mice in the storeroom. Apparently they’ve been eating some of the food. That cat’ll get rid of them.
Dia: [beaming] I actually did something right! [punches the air with her free fist and the cat lifts his respective paw along with her]
Eduardo: o.o …
Nathan: Are you going to set that cat down and help me with dinner or not?
Dia: Right! [sets Eddie down and it rubs up against Eduardo’s legs] D’Awwww~
Eduardo: What…?
Dia: He likes you! ^^
Eduardo: Tch. [looks away, blushing]
[Dia smiles in response]
