The Sanctum must be important when it comes to Magical Girls. It's quite exciting to hear it mentioned here and there, cause I feel like I'm about to see a even bigger picture as the story goes on! And oh my! Isla is willing to defy the Sanctum and use magic to conceal what she's doing! :O And goodness, Isla having high disdain for humans lacking respect for the Sweetleaf Forest is proving to show how much she cares for her research for the forest and life within it. I really like rebellious Isla a lot. <3
Ooh, that sounds fun! Of course, that would mean I'd have to get a decent gaming system...I have a mac, which isn't that compatible with games, usually. The mac was a gift from my grandparents when I started college, and it's starting to run slower and have more problems...might have to get a new one soon. Another mac would be really expensive, this one was $1000 and I'd be reluctant to shell out that kind of money when I'm paid just a little over minimum wage...so maybe I will get a PC next time I buy. I really liked the mac though, because they're not as susceptible to viruses, this one has never had one before and I never really had to worry about taking care of that, which was nice.
Hmm, demon makeup...well, I look good with purple eye makeup, so I could go with that. I could use really pale concealer on my face and use really dark, dramatic eye makeup. And dark, boldly colored lipstick. Still would have to figure out what to do with my hair, though. Are you planning to grow your hair out?
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Well, yes, each "branch" does already exist, each possibility is a combination of circumstances, at least that's the way I always visualized it. I imagine these veins as being like tunnels that we're going through, unable to see the other paths because the tunnels are opaque. Our here, our now, is the only thing we can see. Not the infinite expansion lying before and behind us, not the other paths existing right alongside our own. They're right there, in a space we cannot quite conceive...so close and yet so far. "Now" is just the particular branch we happen to be on, and where it lies in relation to other branches.
I suppose you're right, although I might opt to wear makeup in a video just because then the lighting wouldn't make my face look completely demonic, lol.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
That's an interesting way of putting it. I've always had an idea of that sort of concept, but as a vein or a branch, something that can grow out and fork into other "branches" which in turn lead to others, and others...each is its own sequence of events, and the original branch is still one of many others, and those were each one of many possible "choices" that lead to that reality.
I'd be interested to see a story like that, I'll go back and check out the Youtube channel. I've never tried shooting videos, I've wanted to do vlogs but if I did I'd have to get a better camera and better makeup...my face usually looks pretty bad on-camera.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Yeah, I looked him up. History does tend to gloss over the achievements of minorities in history (or attribute all the credit to one discoverer when multiple minority figures paved the way or made that discovery first.) History also idolizes certain figures and turns them into icons when they did really questionable stuff. A lot of famous figures were slaveowners, and slaves were often treated brutally at the hands of their masters. Even the ones who weren't brutalized were oppressed, because they weren't allowed to do what they wanted, couldn't go to school or read, were treated as 'lesser' and weren't allowed to have their voices heard, and lived out the degrading life of another person claiming ownership of them.
(And who knows how much potential was lost because it lay in the mind of an enslaved person who was not allowed to learn, hold property, start a company, do research, etc.)
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Ooh, you know what'd be interesting to see? Memory scavengers in conflict with one another over religious customs and practices. Because these are what's left of religious fanatics, right? The kind of people willing to create a great deal of conflict just to try and make everyone conform to their own beliefs.
Do the Lore Creators (such as your Lore Creator persona) remember Einstein with any particular fondness because of the effect he had upon the world? I'd love to see a Lore Creator post from you about your thoughts on Einstein and his legacy.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Ok, I'd like to hear about the Memory Scavengers and what they do. And a little more about the Sanctum and how they formed. Maybe some of the Sanctum's experiences with Memory Scavengers in the past.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
So then if we really wanted to interact with an entity, we'd have to be sure they're the type who wouldn't stop pursuing a fully learned life, even knowing of our existence. So letting the Sanctum members find us would be a problem, because they'd tell everyone (and by extension, Platinum, maybe? Because she reports back to the Sanctum. Is this why Lightheart thinks it's a risk if she finds out too much?)
Magical Girls are probably perfect for Lore Creators to connect with. Nothing will deter them from pursuing their goal, so just the knowledge of Lore Creators is unlikely to hinder the lives of most Magical Girls.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Would there be any reason we wouldn't want the Sanctum to gain knowledge of our existence? I mean, they're trying so hard to investigate, but the Lore Creators have chosen not to reveal themselves. In fact, it seems they cover their traces as much as they possibly can. Would there be any way for them to gain power over us if they understood the terms of our existence?
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Thanks, that will definitely be helpful when I write the story! It also might explain why Wanderer is so hesitant to rewrite reality all the time...
Are the Lore Creators aware that their edits leave traces behind? If they do know, is it something they understand completely or is it more that they can sense where they changed things?

So really, to determine how my portion of the story will go, I only have to figure out motivations for my Lore Creator persona, because no matter how determined Isla is, if she does anything I really doesn't like, then I can just change reality. Now I just have to come up with a reason she's trying to guide Isla into fixing the forest and saving the fairies, rather than just doing it herself.
With this in mind, I will start writing this Lore Creator story either tomorrow or the day after.
Do the people who run the Sanctum know about the existence of Lore Creators?

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
I think, as Lore Creator, I already have a few beings I'm interacting with, but since I don't want the world to know of my presence, if those few beings tell, I erase myself from their memory. I like being involved, but not too involved.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Oh ok, that makes sense. I guess it'd be an interesting reflection if I wrote about my Lore Creator persona thinking back on things she has rewritten in the past. (If she has chosen to rewrite histories that were affected in ways she didn't like.)
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Do Lore Creators have a tendency to interact with each other? What happens if they have conflicting desires for the universe they're affecting? If they're not in contact with each other, this could create a source of conflict when one Lore Creator does something to the world that has a conflicting effect to what another Creator wants.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
I guess I will go with the idea that as a Lore Creator I am manipulating the world to make Isla's research possible. The disdain she has for humans, as well, is caused by a sense of frustration that not only do they often go against her concept and make it harder to fulfill the wish that created her, they often do so remaining seemingly deliberately ignorant of important facts right in front of them. This level of contempt toward humans does in fact set her apart from other magical girls. This contempt also leads her to defy their will more enthusiastically than another magical girl defying the will of a human just to fulfill the need created by her concept. However, Isla is still controlled by that need.
She's also only gradually becoming aware that there is something making her different from the other magical girls, since the change came slowly. When she was spawned she was like them, but I, as the Lore Creator, have been gradually making increasingly less subtle interferences to allow her to fulfill her mission. At first she thought her 'sense of self' was just an extremely emphatic reaction to the denial of her wish (more specifically, to the fact that the human trying to deny her wish was doing it for ignorant reasons and refused to listen to her.) However, now the shift is becoming obvious enough that she is aware she's not the same as she once was, and that other magical girls have not undergone this change.
I, as a Lore Creator, have not made the Sanctum any more welcoming to magical girls. That would be a dramatic world shift and I'm trying to avoid too many long-term ripple effects and consequences, and besides, my Lore Creator persona has little interest in that. What she did is convince one nature specialist to take on an apprentice in the form of a magical girl who's obsessed with forests. This did not take a significant deal of interference, as said nature specialist had grown tired as she aged and preferred, increasingly, to work from her office while sending someone else out to collect data.
Isla is not aware of my presence just yet, or of the presence of Lore Creators or the rules binding her as a magical girl. (Rules that even I can't break...or rather, I could, but I won't, because such a dramatic change could also cause an unpredictable ripple effect. As Lore Creator I feel it is my responsibility to pay attention to ethics and only give the world little nudges to minimize the chances of unpredictable outcomes. Of course, even as all-powerful Lore Creator, my judgment on 'ethical interference' and on what constitutes a 'small, reasonable alteration' is biased, and in addition to that, fulfilling Isla's concept isn't my only priority, and I'm trying to make sure that my projects don't have conflicting needs...but I am aware of the consequences that can come from altering the world. I'm also trying not to go against the wishes of the other Lore Creator (if you plan to join the story with your own Lore Creator persona) to maintain peace in the realm. Finally, I don't generally consider it a good idea to contact the beings under my control, as I'm aware of the potential ethical concerns of picking favorites and I do have a tendency to become closer to the ones I know. Emotional closeness is not ideal, as it can lead to prioritizing the desires of one being over the good of the world. However, between Isla's growing awareness of her sense of self and her revelation about the forest system, she may be catching on about the existence of higher beings and of systems that control her. So I may have to reveal myself to her, if only to prevent her from going looking for the answers and finding out too much...as Platinum is close to doing right now. Even if Isla's concept prevents her from directly investigating these matters, she might mention it to someone who would. (Such as Platinum.)
(As the Lore Creator I may not go by Sara but choose another name, such as Wanderer. I'm still figuring out how I'm going to work out other explanations of Isla's budding abilities.)

Ooh, what kind of makeup looks would you want to do? Fairy ears would be pretty cool.
I could use makeup to make myself look more demonic, lol. I don't have a whole lot of it though, the good stuff is so expensive.
