Absolutely. I think requiring registration to download wallpapers is great. Go for it :)

Also, it would be very helpful if we could see who favorited our wallpapers, that way we can keep track of everyone that did like the wallpaper enough to fave it.

I think putting the restriction on would be great. Then I wouldn't have to worry about someone else putting my wallpaper onto some other site I've never heard of. XD I would also like to see more comments on my work. =D

It would be nice to see more comments in the wallpaper section. And meeting even more new people would be fun, as well! I think you should listen to your inner scientist and experiment for a little while. Good luck!

Well I think you should put a restriction on them. I dont like the idea of being able to download X amount per day because who really changes their Desktop background that much?

Putting a restriction on them will add more members. What about having to comment to be able to download the wallpaper?
One more thought, with the portfolio if one person has a lot of subscribers their portfolio takes a long time to load. Is there a way that you could have like 'pages' for the icons?

wellllllllllllll.... I like how open the site is right now, and when someone finds this website its usually impossible to leave right away. So I think that If you are able to limit people to view five wallpapers a day, that would be good, because it's nice to be able to even share my wallies with non members of the site, but if they took the time to look at 5, then they probably already hold an interest in becoming a member.

This way (if managed somehow) would increase registration rates for the passerbys that really care, and roots out the ones that are just here for one wallpaper in particular. As for that person wanting one wallpaper, they can download it and still be able to download up to four others, register, or just leave because they arent interested.

Part of what makes people join is the enthusiasm they gain from viewing the quality wallpapers and the qualities of the site.

Somehow, I think the cons outweigh the pros, although I'll admit that I'm not too knowledgeable with the wallpaper section of the site.

I'd say consider doing it again. Or put limits, like Miss A suggested. The number of downloads allowed is also a good idea.. Like, you can only download so many without being a member.

Member-based HD wallpapers wouldn't be a bad way to go, yeah.

I like the idea of making the higher resolutions require membership while still allowing the smaller default ones to be free. You could always try that and see how it works out. ^_^

I like the restriction idea with the smaller sized wallpapers. Or perhaps put a limit on the number of wallpapers someone who isn't a member can download in a certain period of time.

Hmm... well, what you could do is leave an option to download an 800x600 or 640x480 sized wallpaper for free, but anything bigger requires an account.

You're right in pro and cons... I think you should reconsider it again though ^^' It's a bit unefficient to relogin again and again.
