Alton Brown is probably the only reason I watch the Food Network! I'm a huge fans of his shows. He really saves Iron Chef America because without him it wouldn't be worth watching compared to the Japanese one
Alton Brown is one of my favorite Food Network personalities, he has a knack for explaining the science behind the foods we make in an entertaining way.
I can actually see Alton making the joke about the camera for two reasons, one, that's the personality he has on air, and two, before food, the man was a cinematographer (Feasting on Asphalt is a good miniseries that demos his cinematic style).
I've had my camera fail at inopportune moments, then there was the time my scout troop was a the local TV station and the scoutmaster's camera had no film in it (this was before digital was accessible). I feel for you not having that photo.

Aww poor BossMan *gives piece of strawberry pocky* though I don't exactley know who Alton Brown is (at first I thought you meant Elton John!). I probably know him by face though because I watch that channel alot with my mom.
Haha you should have asked him for some cooking tips! (Hmmm . . . can BossMan cook? . . . *ponders*)

Alton is my favorite on FN. In my first hour (cooking) we watch him all the time, I really love how he shows us that depending on what kind of sugar you use you can get different types of cookies, and how you do just little things differently theres a whole other outcome.
But look on the bright side you just got a scolding from Alton Brown.

OMG you got to met Alton Brown!!! i luve his show!!! he is so funny! he makes learning to cook FUN!!!! i would so die if my phone did wat yours did! at LEAST you got his autograph!
Aww...bummer. My teachers/coaches that I eat lunch with watch the food network every time they have lunch in their room. A couple of days ago, I got the courage to ask why, and he said he couldn't answer. But, apparently, he's been doing this for three years. According to him, the same show has been on at that time for three years, also. Intresting...

I'm sorry, but the way you described the story including the dramatic ending made me laugh out loud.
But I'd feal totally defeated if that were to happen to me.....
I'd have a "The world hates me" look whenever I glanced at my cell phone.

I too am a devout Food Network and Alton fan! And that really sucks that your camera kaput like that o_O
Still though, for the fact that you even got to meet him AND got a book signed, I am green with envy.
