Carpooling also helps to cut some of those gas costs (if you have to drive, that is), although now that gas prices are starting to go down it's getting better in that area...
Welp, good to have a plan, eh? My brother is a business major and seems to really understand economics, so I just go to him for advice on this stuff whenever I have questions. ^^
Myself and several of the people I work with already had to think of things like this. My own issue is that the household went from 4 people to 2 people. That brought down the house income incredible. Grocery buying in itself has been a challenge. A woman at work lost her house.
Learning to budget things is difficult. Right now we are in the phase of keeping receipts to see how much we actually spend even while we are trying to cut things down.
If you ever need artwork for ads or other ideas to help the site earn money I'm sure you will have several people willing to help.
A number of the things you suggest are good practices to have even when we aren't facing a recession. Prudent spending and saving is always a good thing. ^_^
