If the Sony representative a woman in a suit and was surrounded by buff half-naked guys? I think people would laugh because it was so out-of-the-ordinary but if EVERY event had that, I think people would start to raise complaints and I'd certainly start to feel insecure about my lack of a six pack!

Because sex sells. And its hardly just Asia or Sony, a whole lot of countries and companies use scantily clad women to help advertise and sell products.
