I'd say to START with option #1, just to get your bearings and into the swing of things. Maybe, once it's worked into your routine and are comfortable, move on to option #2.

    And, then... I met you.

    I'd say Option #1 :D
It seems much more convenient, and besides, getting used a routine is GOOD for your body! Of course it's ultimately up to you, but I think number one is much more reasonable C:
Good luck with your classes, bossman! ;D

    Option 1.

    Reason:
You'd want motivation for going to kickboxing, so having to go somewhere further away might set you back sometimes. For example, on a rainy day or snowy day, you’d think to yourself, “Oh, it’s so far and such bad weather, I’ll just skip out today and make it up next time”.
Another point is the fact that you know the instructor, so you’re less likely to want to miss out on his classes for fear that it might seem rude. Plus, if you miss out a lot, he might take the initiative to ask you why and try to make you come more often, etc.
Also, knowing him really well, it’d be easier to ask questions. For example, you’re more likely to ask a teacher you’re familiar with to stay after class for a bit to help you than a teacher you don’t really know.

As for the amount of exercise.. I think it’s just good if you can stick to any regular exercise plan. And variety? I also don’t think this is very important. Especially for any martial art related, you’d want a solid foundation rather than knowing a bunch of different moves, but being unable to perform them well due to lack of practice for each specific one.

If it were me I'd go with option 1, but that's just me.
