Same thing used to happen with my little brother, my cousin, and I. My cousin is closer in age to my brother, but maturity-wise he is closer to me. So when we were little my cousin and I would avoid my brother because playing with him was often a no-win situation. We didn't resort to so much physical violence because I'm four years older than my brother. At my age, I couldn't really justify beating up an eleven-year-old. And because he is easily scared, that would only have resulted in me getting in trouble.

Thankfully my sister and I are so close in age that my parents don't necessarily expect me to set an example for her or anything, since she's only 11 months younger than me. My sister and I used to compete over everything and argue all the time. There was a really bad time where we fought so much we hurt each other physically. But now we're so tight, we're literally inseparable.

Most of the time, it was just when my younger sister and my aunt were fighting. My aunt would start it, but since my parents thought she was a little angel, they never believed that she did it even if we told them so. So, we got in trouble for picking fights with her.

Huh. Yeah, when we were little I got in trouble for a lot of things my little brother did. Because clearly I was older and was supposed to set a better example, or because I was old enough to know better and should have stopped him. We have less of the sibling competition going on now, and I'm glad. It takes a lot of pressure off of me. How is it that you get in trouble for things your aunt does?

My older sister (she's actually my aunt, but she's like a sister since I lived with her and my grandparents) is the "perfect" one in their eyes. Even when she does something wrong, my sister and I get in trouble for it.

I think it's pretty normal for people to feel that way. Some more than others, of course, because sometimes some parents/adults never EVER stop reminding you of your mistakes, and how you've disappointed them. I'm sorry you feel that way :/

Not good enough for parents? Yeah, I've felt like that before. Mainly because my little brother's always been, like, perfect to them....

I get that feeling a lot, too. I actually have a fear of failing and disappointing the adults and peers I look up to. I have no idea what that fear's called, but I have it and it SUCKS.
