i use sai but u can do this in both sai and photoshop
i used the pen tool to make the stalks with a bit a varied width. then i erased out the "joints" after that i put that layer on 'perserve transparency/locked opacity'so i wouldn't paint out of it and just painted the shades and light on top of that -it's actually pretty random how i painted stuff just according to my senses-
afterwards i filled in the joints with white and a little shade so it dosent look so erased

What a nice fresh looking wallpaper!
The vector very well made plus the color combined absolutely completes the work, background is very great looking (for a sense of green spring) and everything else flows.
Definitely a favorite from me,
