This is really amazing, I hope I can squeeze a decent comment upon full viewing it XD
First of all, the background is love. The clouds look great and the light textures perfectly fill the space that's left. Talk about textures, I'm glad you used a paper one, it fits nicely, adds a 'magazine poster' feeling to this.
1280x800 is love because it has a lot of icon space. Thank you so much! <3 I like the effect you used on the characters, makes them look like cardboard cut-outs from those kids' pop-up books ^^ The clouds are so nice, you have a special way of combining all these elements and what results is something so unusual and neat at the same time! *envious* Buuut, you get a fav and a hug from me :3 And this comment ^^ Keep it up!

The background you made is full of so many different elements, and how you have it set up, it really does makes it look like they're traveling through time. Oooh...so cool...fantastic job!!!
