for your profile pic, from your backroom, go to Profile and select "Avatar" there you can upload a 100x100 image for your pic
With the World in your backroom go to Post and select "Add Post" where you can write stuff that people can read on your site. If you want to put an intro for your world (what is on top of your world page no matter how many posts you put up later) you go to Worlds and select Introduction. You can also Edit Design under the World tab to change the color scheme, have a bg image, etc
